George Michael: One More Try Meaning
Song Released: 1988
One More Try Lyrics
People on the streets
Im looking out for Angels
Just tryin to find some peace
I think it's time
That you let me know
So if you love me,say you love me
But if you don't just let me go
'cause teacher there...

#1 top rated interpretation:GM said he wrote the song coming in to a new relationship. So there you go.
Personally, Teacher is Life. He's had it tough, the world is rough, and he's so tired of it all he doesn't want to do it (hope, love, risk) anymore. But at the end he decides to give Life one more chance. -

#2 top rated interpretation:George Michaels one more try song was meant to his very first homosexual experience. He refers the word "teacher" to the man who gave him the experiences he never knew and he was confused becaused he liked it and he didnt understand why. The "teacher" taught him things that he didnt want to learn, but he ended up fallen in love with him.

#3 top rated interpretation:The More Try refers to trying one more time with the person he refers to in that song. It does not reference an upcoming relationship. He wrote "Father Figure",
"Monkey", "Faith" and "One More Try", about the same relationship. He also wrote "Kissing a Fool" about that person and others who were freeked about who he was. He is not a "Star-Fucker" he likes smart people who are in the everyday arena. One thing about Yog is this: He is smarter than your average bear, a better kisser than your heart can imagine, and a real mensch. He is not a "movie star type". In fact, he can slum better than the average bar-fly. -
I think he’s singing about being literally abused by maybe a catholic father or something of this nature as he does identify as an “altar boy” and as many young boys were naively introduced into such acts could not differentiate between love and abuse led to a life of complexity and confusion.

He is unlucky in love, and when he finally finds that special guy,his feelings of true love is unrequited. That is heartbreaking.

When he say no more looking out for danger and i was at your feet. It seems like mother figure and that he didnt want learn to hold you love you and to think your mines seems if he dont want to deal with hurt break of his mother figure passing

This song came out in 1988 which was also the year he came out of the closet to one of his closest friends who I believe he had feelings for. I believe this song represents the time in his life that he feels he needed to face the fact that he was gay and it was time to open up and let people know. He is clearly confused about his sexuality and it sounds like to me he wants to know if he will still be loved and accepted by the ones he loves if he lets them know. Basically "love me for who I am or let go". It sounds to me like if he can't be accepted for who he really is he is willing to end his life but in the end decided to give it "one more try".

I believe in listening to the words and observing the video the teacher is Elton John...it's never been stated but I believe a relationship of love between them developed. George maybe thought that it would end in hurt but still wanted to give it one more try. The white piano in the video symbolizes Elton.

He has been hurt before and quite frankly is sick of the games. Either you want him or u dont ,its that simple, theres no in between . He isnt gonna be your boy toy until u find your mister right. Honesty is what he wants

George Michael met a stranger at a bar. He listened as that person told him:" I would never belong to a club who would accept me as a member." A rough understanding of what Groucho Marx said. This person was the impetus of a few songs. He called this person a "teacher" because of the metaphysical experience that person told him about that happened in that person's life. He'd had enough of "angels" after that. The reference to the geographical aspects such as "ocean" refers to where they had met.
