Grouplove: Lovely Cup Meaning
Lovely Cup Lyrics
Why don't you fill me up?
All these reasons too hard to explain
So I'll drink you up my dear,
We got it all right here
Here is now and now is where I wanna be
Alora si, you belong to me
And I had to get...

I personally believe this song goes two ways, being about drinking and a girl. Alora (the girl) can be perceived as a drink that belongs to him. And the same goes for the lovely cup that fills him up. That could be the girl filling him up with joy, and him wanting to bask in it and enjoy her.

I think this song is a response to "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley. Consider the lyrics within the book for "Little Bottle":
"Bottle of mine, it's you I've always wanted!
Bottle of mine, why was I ever decanted?
Skies are blue inside of you,
The weather's always fine;
For
There ain't no Bottle in all the world
Like that dear little Bottle of mine."
Grouplove's "Lovely Cup" has lyrics which are very similar to "Little Bottle," and consider the following line from "Lovely Cup":
"Am I hard to get away from this here masquerade
Comes a time when a man looses his mind
It's such a mystery my, my philosophy
What to do when we do have some time"
Considering that Brave New World is a book which plays with themes of social control, false happiness through use of drugs, and how the strict caste system leads those in the higher castes to have a lot of idle time on their hands. -

I believe this song is about an alcoholic who can't resist his addiction. He personifies his drink because he's gotten so attached to it, and he's become so absorbed with it. He seems to know that it's bad, but he doesn't really care, so he continues to drink anyways.
-
He's about to drink alcohol from a cup at a house party.
