Grouplove: Tongue Tied Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Tongue Tied Lyrics
Roll around this roundabout
Oh yeah
Take me to your best friend's house
I loved you then and I love you now
Oh yeah
Don't take me tongue tied
Don't wave no goodbye
Don't...
Take me to your best...

#1 top rated interpretation:Roll around the roundabout. To happen again. He's losing his lover but he still loves her and that's why he's at a loss for words. He wants to do all the stuff they did together again. This song is deeper than it's tune chaps. What's with all those weird interpretations?!

#2 top rated interpretation:I have no stinkin idea, but its stuck in my head

#3 top rated interpretation:I don’t think this song is at all about a threesome or anything along those lines. I believe the boy is in love with a girl, and he loves her so much she could take him to her bestfriend’s house and he would still only like her. He wouldn’t leave her for anyone even if te girl’s bestfriend was hot. I think this because of him saying “take my to your bestfriend’s house I loved you then I love you now” saying he won’t lose feelings for her.

I think the song is about a boy and his lover going to his lover's bestfriend's house, where they first met. They met at their house, where the guy was already in love with the girl. Now, their relationship is falling apart "Don't wave no goodbye", but he still is in love with the girl "I loved you then and I love you now." He wants to go back to their bestfriend's house hoping that it will fix their relationship, going back to the beginning, going round, like a roundabout.

It's a guy who is tongue tied with a certain girl.
For the recent post, your idea is too personal. Dangerous and a bad idea. Had an interpretation for this song, but under review. -
The guy tongue tied with a certain girl she likes or they did something that made him tongue tied. Or better check the meanings at songmeanings.com
For the recent post, your idea is too personal and I think the idea should be between couples. Isn't this unsanitary. Fluids or blood might be infected. One must be wise and be sure there are no blood borne pathogens. Both parties should be healthy or not do this idea at all. -
Really? A girl's best friend is what? She takes care of it, she cleans it, and when she's bleeding, she bandages it. Her best friend is her kitty cat. He's going down on her till he's all tongue tied and he doesn't want that to be it... He wants to get his too.
-
I think it's about a teenage boy trying to convince his girlfriend to take their relationship to the next level. They can't go to either one of their houses because their parents are strict. No co-ed sleepovers or anything. The girl's best friend has parents who are less strict or they don't know what she gets up to for whatever reason, like maybe it's a single parent household and that parent works the night shift or whatever. So, take me to your best friend's house so we can get it on finally! It's either that or a threesome.
-
I believe the meaning of this song is he is in love with her best friend, but not as much as his girl. I definitely believe there is a threesome going on here. ¨I don´t usually interpret songs, but when I do, I´m usually right about the meaning.¨

Not much for deep thought here..when your in love you beat friend is your lover.she wants him to take her home and hang cuz they cant be apart..think about your first love.makes sense if you think about the whole song and not just lines in it
-
The song may represent how the male wants to go to his partner's best friend to make out or fuck or something. That's the basic interpeetation. If you want to go deeper, you really can't. It's a fun song about cheating on your girlfriend in a late night party. Maybe he was drunk, (the shaky 3D as he reversed up the stairs and such) maybe not. Possibly those masked people are his concious knowing karma is coming. That's just my guess, but hopefully it gave someone a rough idea.

For one, I think those who think the video has no meaning are silly. For two, marmalade is not another girl he is cheating on. For three, this is a persona, he does not want the night to end. Tongue tied he is talking about that nervous spark of love and he does not want to be left that way. The girl says "stay up all night, slumber party pillow fight, well get real high", and the video starts off with the guy kissing a girl. The video starts off with the idea that someone uninformed might not recognize what a certain individual did. It was a trip "roundabout" like an acid trip. This night was its own thing.

A guy wants to go to his gf's best friend's house. Eh convinces her to go, hence they go around the roundabout. As they're going, he assures her that he's only going to the part to party, not for anyone else (I loved you then I love you now). He goes to the party, making out with Marmalade (his gf's best friend?), and gets caught. He tries to explain (I love you then I love you now) and wants his gf to hear him out (Don't leave me tongue tied) and doesn't want her to end the relationship (Don't wave no goodbye/ Don't break).
-
Why is everyone using the video to interpret the song? Videos don't have anythingg to do with their songs most of the time. They weren't singing about masked men and shit.

I'm pretty sure the lead singer and the chick that is in the band met in New York while he was staying at a friend's house - and they have been dating ever since...so I deduce this is a song about their random meeting. I have read bits and pieces of their interviews, and I somehow pieced this together. Or maybe I'm wrong. Either way, the song always puts a smile on my face and makes me more optimistic about meeting someone new to love :) I'm grateful to Grouplove for all the times that song has transitioned my mood to carefree and optimistic youthful adolescence! Somehow they captured it in that song.
Cheers from Virginia! -
Boy is in love with a friend's best friend. That's why he's so insistent on "take me to your best friends house" he wants to see her. he likes her but she however does not like him back, that's why he's like "I loved you then, I love you now" meaning, give me a chance, I still like you from the moment I met you. They make out or whatever, and he is tongue tied at the sudden OMG SHE GAVE ME A CHANCE. And he's begging her to stay, he doesnt want it to end. Don't leave me now, I've waited so long, "don't wave no good-bye"
