The One Thing I Have Left Lyrics

Will someone please radio for help
'Cause I think I'm allergic to myself
And they think they can throw us all away
We gotta stop it before it's all too late

There's got to be a better way
They dissect everything we say
To try to make us...

i think this song is about not changing yourself and how adults pick apart all the things that us (kids) say. When it says "we point but don't know what direction" it means that we point at the path we want to take but don't know will it will lead us in life. And when it says that "i think I'm allergic to myself" it means that you are sick of who you have become and you want to change who you are and become better

Let's see. This is one of my favorite hawk Nelson songs. What it is pretty much saying is, people look at Christians differntly. They expect Christians to be little Miss (and Mr.) perfect. If you do even one little thing wrong, they'll be like "Ha, you're not a christian. You're not going to heaven. You did something wrong. And that means that you're not perfect anymore."
Now, everone sins, even Christians. In teh Bible, it doesn't say that everyone is perfect, it says that God will forgive you for you sins. And that Jesus died on the cross to forgive us of those sins.
The truth of God is like in the song where it says "the one thing I have left." and where it says something abut you can't change who I am. Just because someone says something, you should stand up for our belief.
Both songs I have posted for have both been similar in meanings...standing up for your belief. The other song was Cassie by Flyleaf. I hope this helps.

I'm not sure about the whole five paragraphs about God in every aspect of the song, but I think it does have some parts about God, like someone can hurt you, take everything away, but they can't take who you are inside.

Also, on a side note, I was kind of disappointed in Jason. When I talked to him backstage before one of his shows, I asked him the most important thing he had to tell young people and all he said was "Follow your dreams."

I love him and Hawk Nelson a lot. but that was pretty lousy advice.

I think that it's about what the media destroying our Generation and making us into people who we are not so we will buy there stuff because we think its cool they make us think this is who we are and who we want to be through tv,magazines, and music.I got all this from a christian show called acquire the fire with this whole battle cry thing and that's what they talk about and this is where I first herd of hawk nelson.

This song is all about being a Christian and what the world has to say about Christians.

Theres got to be a better way, they dissect everything we say to try to make us feel this way.

As Christians we try to tell the world about God but they take our words and twist them and turn them and throw them back at our faces to anger us.

Chorus: You can take the one thing I have left, I give it all away for so much less, you can take the heart inside my chest. You can take the one thing I have left, beat me to the ground and take my breath...

This is saying that no matter how much those people anger us it doesn't matter. They can take EVERYthing from us and it doesn't matter.

And I swear we were born to let you down. We scream but never make a sound. We point but don't know which direction
    We are America right now.

This is talking about how Christians were born sinners and will always disappoint our Father in Heaven. We always try to tell people about God but never really suceed. Our failures aren't always due to people who don't want to listen either. Sometimes Christians just don't want to tell others about God or do so half heartedly. When this happens it is never our fault, we are constantly pointing the finger at someone else. No one in specific, just someone.

We are America right now. That line speaks for itself. As does the rest of the song.

This song is very powerful and is one of the best songs to ever come from Hawk Nelson.

This is a type of Rebellius song in a way to Simple Plan Grow up. It means that he wants to be the person he is and not have anyone change him.

I think its just saying that if everything that could ever happen to you did, and everything was taking from you but you won't change who you are for anything, nothing can change you.

I think it's more about a guy giving everything he has to the lord and trying to start his life over. Like you said, he doesn't like what his life is like currently and so he's trying to start over.

I'm not really sure what this song is about. But it might be about a person that is tired of the way he lives his life.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
