Hozier: Someone New Meaning
Someone New Lyrics

But there is pure love...

"Hozier’s song is a brilliant, pathetic portrait of a significant part of today’s generation (and I’m including all ages, not just millennials). One YouTube commenter accurately called it Tinder’s theme song—isolated people looking for connection but finding only momentary thrills that leave them empty and, more often than not, leave those who foolishly fall for their manipulations broken and hurt, confused about what happened between the flood of passionate communications—the poetry, the songs, the gentle words of knowing—and the cold, distracted silence after the moment has passed....What I appreciate most about “Someone New”—and I do think it is a superbly written commentary on our social condition—is that it doesn’t necessarily glorify this life of despair (at least I hope not). One revealing point is when Hozier confesses to waking “at the first cringe of morning, and my heart’s already sinned.”
Then he adds, “How pure, how sweet a love, Aretha, that you would pray for him.” The reference is to Aretha Franklin’s famous song “Say a Little Prayer,” which was released in 1968. The contrast between the two songs is striking...."

Definitely avoid someone who has a narcissistic personality as well
- NOT IN ANY OF THESE RELATIONSHIPS AND NEVER HAD SOMEONE NEW
- NEVER HAD A BF -
I think this song is about a narcissistic personality and how he views relationships. He is not looking to make any meaningful connection. Narcissists feel an overwhelming emptiness 24/7. They are constantly trying to find any kind of distraction they can to mask the fact that they really can't feel anything. So many of them do go from relationship to relationship, and from person to person--only they are never honest enough with themselves (or with others) to admit to it.

So it's basically about how he falls in love everyday with someone new, but think again, its about how he see's someone he likes ,then he see's another person he likes and he only imagines that he's actually in a relationship with that person, but really he's not, he just's daydreams about having a girlfriend.Though he knows that if he did have a girlfriend he would just fall in love again with (Someone)else and do the same thing with that person. But deep down inside he is alone and wants to be in love with someone just dosn't know who? Also the thing with Hozier's music is that it has hidden messages in it you just have to find it, so listen carefully! Because there full of beautiful, sad , tragic , scary stories that have happened in his life. He is an amazing man with a beautiful heart and soul he will go far trust me on that.
