In This Moment: Blood Meaning
Song Released: 2012
Blood Lyrics
I hate you for every time you ever bled for me
I hate you for the way you smile when you look at me
I hate you for never taking control of me
I hate you for always saving me from myself
I hate...

#1 top rated interpretation:My rant... I wrote another comment but I need to say this. In this moment has always wanted to convey one thing. Something so simple, yet so many people can't grasp it. Maybe because it's so very simple. Self-love. Their music is intense, maybe to represent how much self hate we harbor because of all of the judgement we endure everyday. She has laid herself bare, literally to show us the importance of embracing ourselves. Not for how others see us, but in spite of that.
Don't let anyone judge you for your story, because until they have lived it, they will never know.
I love my life, not because it's been easy. But I am who I am. I love who I am. If they don't like it, f*ck em. -
Heavy metal. What does this specific song mean? To each their own but to me this song was about my dad. How I feel when I try to think about him objectively like try to gain perspective. A good man and in more ways than not a good father in spite of the more rare & exceptionally heinous deeds he was indeed responsible for that haunted him and will haunt me now until I am dead.
I think that's what this song is getting at maybe. Being haunted. Hating yourself for feeling good when someone treats you bad. Though its not something you can really help. & Vise versa. & Et cetera. -
I interpret it to be about all human's duality -- our ability to be evil and good. The blood represents the good in us and the mud, the bad. "I'm not that easy" means not easily figured out.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was to convey the feeling of not being able to connect positively with others after falling in love with an abuser or being abused for a long time. The mind misses the pain you felt and earns for abusive relationships identical to one associated with the initial trama that scared you. When someone is suddenly not in the mood to control you anymore you feel hatful and that's a reason why the music is so heartfelt and intense. It's anger, I think every song is about some kind of past trama experienced by the singer and/or band members

I have always wondered if it had to do with a blood fetish...

Love. Real true love.
-
It is about forgiveness. About loving yourself, and that other person. No matter what they have done to you, or maybe in spite of that. Blood represents the pain, the life, the feeling, the hate. It's about overcoming the obstacles of judgement and the self inflicted hate because of that pain. It's about being human, and wanting to be loved.
-
It's not about drugs. Drugs don't make sacrifices for you... Is def about a person or two.
-
It is good vs evil, healthy love being hard to take(romantic, parental, etc) and unhealthy love is easier, 'i love you for never believing what I say' that could be appreciating a parent, OR a partner that calls you out on your truths, OR when we throw ourselves at someone who devalues us. The mud in veins for me is the toxic feelings this emotional twist causes. Of course I love the way 'you dominate and violate me' in certain relationships. But is that healthy?
Regardless of how the song touches you and resonates with your heart, it rocks and really helped me head bang some angst out! -R -
I think she's talking about how guys who are being the sweetest are being pushed away by girls and called players, but the ones who are being rude and jerks are being loved and called the best men alive.
-
This song reminds me of my boyfriend. He is so sweet to me and I treat him like shit. So when Maria is talking about everything she hates about what ever she is singing about, that's how I feel about my boyfriend. Same with when she is talking bout what she loves.
And yes I think this song is about drugs, but to me, it's about my boyfriend... -

I thought at first drugs..but drugs dont save you from yourself.
About 1 or 2 guys make sence..the things she hates could be what she was promised and love what she got
Like someone said that in an interview the song means something different to everyone

If you listen closely, you can hear her dad raping her.
