In This Moment: Whore Meaning
Song Released: 2013
Whore Lyrics
-
Women are often materialized as people who rely on men to support them, even if it means to result in giving your body to afford the next payment. This song tells people that one will not be subjected to a label because of something they did.
-
I listen to the song and, I think about my mother who told me that I would never amount to anything and that I would just rely on men to take care of me for the rest of my life. So in that case I think it's based on peoples perception of you as others have said. Proving you are better, stronger, and more intelligent than others give you credit for. It's about taking something awful and turning it into a bad ass comeback.
-
"See this is what I was told ladies and gentlemen, when I was just a girl, that I would amount to absolute sh*t, and that I would become nothing at all. So you see, this next song, this last song, is about rising above other people's all of their ideas, all of their perceptions of who and what we should be! So if tonight Spokane if I can help inspire turning other people's hate into something powerful... I'm am proud to say to you, tonight Spokane, I will be your WHORE!" ~In This Moment -- Spokane 10/28/17~
-
I see the song's entire meaning to be something along these lines: "I'm alive. I've done some disgusting, degrading things to get here, and I'm not proud of it, but I'll do it again if I must to survive."
-
"I am so proud and excited for the world to hear Whore!!!! This is an honest and raw movement that needs to be heard!!!!!!" exclaims singer Maria Brink. "The message behind this song is taking back control. It is about taking the power from a disgusting and degrading word and turning it back around on the accuser. It's about self empowerment, love, and liberation." - See more at: http://www.centurymedia.com/newsdetailed.aspx?IdNews=13443&IdCompany=2#sthash.O4oMbSWt.dpuf
