Anything but the Truth Lyrics

If they tell me that the bees
Don't make honey anymore
Then what am I supposed to tell you
And if they tell me that the ocean
Is tired of her shores
Then tell me
What am I supposed to tell you

When I can't tell you anything

I believe this song is referring to significant other telling him that she no longer loves him or he is envisioning her one day telling him this.

He uses the symbolism of bees no longer like honey and the shore no longer likes the see. It just isn't possible nor does it make any sense.

If his wife came to him and said "I no longer love you" it would be equivalent to telling him that the sea no longer crashes on the shore. My whole world would be completely flipped all the truths that I know deep down in my heart to be true would be questioned. I would be speechless

*What am I supposed to tell you?*

He wouldn't be angry or upset nor would he lie and say he felt the same way. He would simply tell the truth which is that he still loves her.

He goes on to use the reference of the eagle being blown from the nest by the wind even though they may not be ready to fly.

Often times people stay in relationships because they are comfortable, it's what they're used to. Sometimes things force us from our comfort zone which, more often than not, we aren't ready to come out of.

At that point we either fly or fall.

It rarely ever makes sense in these times of our lives and often we come out of them still questioning why they happened.

But maybe, just maybe, *we were never meant to know*.

    God bless

I think that this song is simply about how he can't answer his son's questions truthfully cause the truth is that the worlds filled with horrors.
