Jack Johnson: Fortunate Fools Meaning
Fortunate Fools Lyrics
She knows what everything's about
And when anybody doubts her,
Or sings songs without her
She's just so mmm
She knows the world is just her stage
And so she'll never misbehave
She gives thanks for what they...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think this is about a girl who is like the life of the party. She knows all the right things to say and can really work a room. She thrives on attention and guys are ready willing and able to give it. She is a little conceited and very sure of herself, to the point of "foolishness" at times. She has two faces. One is the persona that she has developed and gets her fix of being large and in charge off of, but of course the other one is very different, probably even like an opposite of the one she shows to everyone. But Jack sees her, possibly loves her and this song is an ode to the tangled dance she does.

I think this song is about a girl who is basically like a child, and she doesn’t know how cruel the world can be. She’s just happy and easygoing and therefore is a fortunate fool. She’s foolish, but Jack wishes he could be a bit foolish like her because she isn’t so worried about the world.

I think this song is about a young woman, slightly nieve to the reality of the world just yet. She will get there. For now.. she is happy go lucky, bold, & curious.. Exploring her likes and dislikes.. She has a fresh plan for her life. The she still has faith in humanity & the world hasn't crushed her dreams yet (as always, it eventually will). She gets to enjoy it while she can.

Fact. It's about Claire Danes... Jack said she was on Letterman talking about foreign films she was watching... Letterman asked what Directors and she didn't know of one. Jack could tell she was caught lying and said she's just a fortunate fool. Fact.

my way of understanding is that she is just a foolish pretty girl that does not see trouble in the world as she can mesmarize others by her looks.. i think she's fortunate because she is not smart enough to see emptyness in her own way of living - where people only see her by her looks, i think it is about the shallow generation

I think it's about a girl (obviously) who trys to be someone and gets really lucky and everything works out for her. But she is a fool because shes not being who she really is.
