But the meanest thing that he ever did
Was before he left, he went and...

Amazing isn't it. Somtimes a song is just a song for the fun of it, and this one proves it.

Ok so there was this boy named Sue, and his father left him and his mother when Sue was three. The father gave him that name (Sue) before he left. The boy hated him for giving him that name. He would search the bars for his father. He especially hated the name because girls would giggle and boys would laugh. He would beat up the guys that laughed at him. Then one day he finally saw his father again in July when he was thirsty and thought he would get a drink at a bar. He noticed it was his dad, from seeing a picture of him that his mother showed him. He tells his father, "My name is sue now you're gonna die" then he punches his father, they start fighting. Towards the end of the fight, Sue pulls out a gun, so does his father. His father tells him to shoot him, cause he wouldn't blame him if he did. Sue decides not to. The father tells him he gave him that name, because he was leaving and he wanted Sue to be tough, that name would make him tough. The father called Sue his son and Sue called his father his pa. At the end of the song, it's stated that if he had a son, he would name him anything but Sue, he still hates that name.
