Josh Groban: You Raise Me Up Meaning
Song Released: 2004
You Raise Me Up Lyrics
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise...
-
I heard this was originally written as a hymn to be sung at funerals.
-
It can mean God but for me also my parents, family members, friends who have helped raise me up to all that I can be. Sharon Rezac Andersen
-
I love this song. So encouraging and inspirational.
-
This song speaks to me in a very special way. I believe it’s about God’s omnipresence and omnipotence. It is so inspirational and spiritual. We can always rely on Him.
-
You could interpret it in many ways. The Lord has been there in good times and bad. When we are tired, weary rely on him he helps us stand on those mountains. Again when I hear this I think of my own mother. The woman that was always there, a shoulder to cry on, and my encourager that life was worth living when I felt times were bad, she would remind me to look to the heaven for answers. When I was with her I felt like I was on top of the mountain. Now I can look to the heaven and know that both her and my Lord are still watching over me.
-
It was written for the pop duo Secret Garden. It isn't a hymn and Groban didn't write it. He just covered it.
-
I loved this song.
Its an emotional song with an angel voiceee!!!!
The interpretation
That god is with us and traveling with us along our lifee road... -
Very moving lyrics.I believe it refers to Our Lord. He is always there to "Raise me up"
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
at the first resurrection~!*:-) I love the style;it's words!
-
The hymn is for our Lord Jesus Christ always by outside
-
God will provide us a place in his Kingdo.
-
The imagery in the song is about someone who has done the impossible with the person who had no power, and probably no courage to scale mountains and brave the seas.
Though without His name, the lyrics are a fitting tribute to what God does and has done in many a person's life.

This song makes the hair stand on my neck. It touches me more than most any song I have ever heard, at least as much.
