Seeing as there isn't a close enough interpretation or no more interest in one, here is a more accurate one. This song represents Mephistophile's efforts to tempt the mortal Ariel (based on the character Faust) to admit contentment and thus help him win a bet with God to re-allow Mephistophiles into heaven. This whole album, and its predecessor are telling the story of Faust (classic 16th-ish century literature) and Mephistophiles.

If you look closely at the video for this song. Its a song about the Devil claiming to be God. You will see the singer walking on water just basically speaking of the words of the devil. Just basically saying the devil speaks to us when we are sad. Miserey loves company. The devil is most of the time the first one there on the spot.
Basically the lyrics are referring to the devil luring us into to his hands instead of Gods and thats the better way.
