Kamelot: Soul Society Meaning
Soul Society Lyrics
From my carnal remains
What does it matter to me
If it all fades to black
If I'm born once again
Then no one really is free
How could I be condemned
For the things I have done
If my intentions were good...

The song pretty much speaks for itself, but:
It pretty much represents the archetypal questions regarding life, death and the afterlife.
Is there an afterlife? If there was one, would eternal life not be a curse? How can I go to hell if all I mean to do was good? Is everything knowable? Are there unverifiable truths? How can we believe in a heaven, if science seemingly contradicts the concept?
The universe is a vast and majestic place. In our insignificance we cling to the flame of life, as if death were a rain that sought to extinguish it. I wish that there were a heaven. A flawless soul society where all stand for each other in perfect unity and bliss.
