Keith Urban: For You Meaning
Song Released: 2012
For You Lyrics
All I saw was smoke and fire, I didn't feel a thing, but suddenly I was rising higher.
And I felt like I just made he biggest mistake: when I thought about my unborn child. When I thought about my wife.
And the answer rang out clear...

1TOP RATED
#1 top rated interpretation:To me this song is about a group of soldiers that are on tour and have been attacked. All he saw was smoke and fire, he had been wounded. As he was laying there he began to think about his family and he is re-thinking being in the military. He can hear God calling to him, but he is not entirely sure what is going on. In verse two, when he states, "There's a Brother on my left and another on my right," he is either referring to two more fallen soldiers or two soldiers standing by him and defending him. For both of them, the soldiers carry a picture of their family with them and they are all waiting to return back home.
And it's weighing on my mind...
I'm not trying to be the hero... I don't want to die...
But right now, in this moment, you don't think twice
In this verse, he is saying how no one out ther wants to die, but in the moment, they don't think twice about acting--they do what they have to do.
Then towards the end of the song he realizes that he would be willing to die for his country in order to keep his family safe. Whether he lives or dies at the end of the song is up to Keith and Monty Powell. -
He talked about it tonight in concert; song was written for the movie Act of Valor and the scene where a Navy Seal threw his body on a grenade was the inspiration. What was going through the Seals mind as his spirit was rising up to heaven.

It could be used in military sense and it can also be used in the terms of a firefighter with his brothers.
-
I thought it was about him and his house is burning down and his wife is in there and he wants to save her. As for the brothers my initial interpretation was that they were just his brothers watching the fire
-
Easy... its a great lyric written about brothers-in-arms willing to die for each other to protect whats important to them. Without a doubt a well written song.
It's not about Nicole at all. It was written for the movie. -
i know it is about soldiers hence the brother on the left and right with photos in their pockets with people waiting at home. so im assuming he means he would willingly die for his wife and childrens freedom
-
This is one of my favourite Keith Urban songs. I think what it means is that he loves his wife, Nicole Kidman, and his daughter(s.) (I have no idea how many children he has.) so much that he would die for them. Make the sacrifice.
