Lana Del Rey: Heroin Meaning
Heroin Lyrics
Grabbed me by the ribbons in my hair
Life rocked me, ultra-softly
Like the heavy metal that you wear
I'm flying to the moon again
Dreaming about heroin
How I gave you everything
And took your life away
I put...

This song is about Lana’s ex boyfriend rob, who died in 2011 from a heroin overdose. Personally, I relate the song to my mental health journey, especially self harm. The lyrics “how it gave you everything, and took you’re life away” I very much interpret as how when I feel hopeless I use sh as a coping strategy, but it has began to take my life away and limit me, as although it helps at the time, it deteriorates my body and therefore mind, and kills my soul. As in I know it’s bad, but I can’t stop. It’s an addiction, like heroin is.

goodness this is a complex song. her poetry and story telling is incredible. 20 listens and i was brought to tears. i dont think its a ref to nikki six and if it is he should be honored. yea motley rocked dont get me wrong. everyone has their vice. sending someone to rehab, investing in their recovery, they going through withdrawls, sick of withdrawls, baby come on, then dying. then you falling victim to a vice yourself coping with the loss. meeting someone else, falling in love, they send you to rehab investing in your recovery hoping you are better. at least thats what i got out of it.

I'm pretty sure this is based on Nikki Sixx's heroin addiction. "Life rocked me like Motley" Nikki was obviously in Motley Crue. Who knows.

"Topanga is hot tonight, the city by the bay
Has movie stars and liquor stores and soft decay
The rumbling from distant shores sends me to sleep
But the facts of life can sometimes make it hard to dream
Life rocked me like Mötley
Grab me by the ribbons in my hair
Life rocked me, ultra-softly
Like the heavy metal that you wear"
She is describing how difficult her life has been recently saying that it has rocked her like Motley.
"Flying to the moon again
Dreaming about heroin
Probably gave you everything
And took your life away
I put you on an aeroplane
Destined for a foreign land
My hopes that you come back again
And tell me everything's
Okay
Babe, yeah"
Most likely either high on heroin or having withdraw symptoms, she explains how she gave someone heroin so they could also experience the high, but instead lead them down a road of addiction and then death.

I see this is a struggle between the love for a drug and trying to get you life back together. Taking the drug to ease the pain of life, it is a easy route
