To me the song about how easy it is to share a smile with someone who is not feeling so happy. Mutual smiles are hard to find yet in the chorus it says “it’s very easy just…“

This is a great song about a friendship between 2 people. Unfortunately 1 person wants to be more than just friends. This person misinterprets what she tells him about love and thinks she is talking about them. End of friendship.
