Blackout Lyrics

I'm stuck in this bed you made
Alone with a sinking feeling
I saw through the words you said
To the secrets you've been keeping
It's written upon your face
All the lies how they cut so deeply
You can't get enough you take
And take and take and...

guys i don't deny that what you are saying about his past, but the whole album a thousand suns is a concept album based upon the motif of modern warfare and how we are going to all end up dead if we keep acting like this. while your interpretation is heartfelt, it has nothing to do with the rest of the album which pushes me to say that it is about the conceited views of world powers today and how they can never come to a rational decision, and they instead just start blowing everyone's brains out.

The interpratation of Mira Mira is completely wrong. Chester is simply angry with governments and politicians.

"I'm stuck in this bed you made"

All the bad decisions taken by governments have made a certain world.

    "Alone with a sinking feeling"

People is alone and feels bad in this world.

"I saw through the words you said
To the secrets you've been keeping
    It's written upon your face
All the lies how they cut so deeply"

    Governments lie and keep secrets.

"You can't get enough you take
    And take and take..."

All the taxes, waste of public money, exploitation of resources.

    "You've gotta get it inside
    You push it back down
    You push it back down
    No
    You'll never get it inside
    Push it back down,
    Blackout,
    Blood in your eye"

Governments try to suppress the knowledge, but then a violent rebellion starts (blood in your eyes)

"You say that it's not your fault
And swear that I am mistaken
You said it's not what it seems
No remorse for the trust you're breaking
You run but then back you fall
Suffocate in the mess you're making"

The world is going down but governments say that is not their fault, that people is mistaking, while they are suffocating in their own disorder.

    "F-ck it Are you listening?"

Governments don't want to listen to anything.

    "Joseph Hahn DJing"
The war starts between governments and masses. Masses wins the conflict and humanity is ready for a new age but.....we need help.....

    "Floating down
    As colors fill the light
We look up from the ground
    In fields of paperwhite
    And floating up
You pass us in the night"

This is an obvious reference to UFOs and extraterrestrials.

    "A future gazing out
    A past to overwrite"

Mankind is ready for a new age.

    "So come down
    Far below
We've been waiting to collect the things you know
    Come down
    Far below
We've been waiting to collect what you've let go"

Shinoda please the extraterrestrials to come down on the Earth and teach us to be correct.

    "

A Thousand Suns is a concept album about a possible nuclear war in the actual decaying world. Each track addresses a different socio-political problem. For instance, Wretches and Kings is about rich people helding the power and enslaving the poors. Burning in the Skies is mainly about wars (debris, smoke, burnt bridges). Fallout and Iridescent are about the nuclear bomb detonation. The Catalyst ends with a prayer to God and the ascension of the souls.

Therefore, the correct interpretation for Blackout is socio-political.

In the first part, Chester is angry against the governments. There is another comment around here that explains well the song line by line.

Then, there is a confusing dubstep-like instrumental part. I think this a musical way to describe a chaotic rebellion of the people against the governments. "Blackout" and "blood in your eyes" are repeated several times. This part fades then into a more quiet one, meaning that the conflict is over.

The last part of the song is pretty odd. I think the other comment about the aliens is right, because there are some references to the ufo light spheres in the song (i.e. "we look up from the ground", "floating up", "pass us in the night"). Then, in order to have "a future gazing out" and "a past to overwrite", Mike sings: "come down, far below, we've been waiting to collect the things you know".
So the floating ufos that pass above us in the night, have to come down on the surface of the Earth to teach us being a wiser society.
Another hint about this interpretation, is that Chester voice fades into an extraterrestrial voice at the end of the track.

i dont what know what any of you are talking i feel for this song. its about somone thats somone has been lying to (it may be the gov.) and they now know.

the gotta get it inside and push it back down parts. it means that the person tries to conceal the truth behind the lies. AND a definition for blackout is a suppression of knowledge. so yeah. it probably has to do with war or us or the gov cuz thats basically wat a thousand suns is about.

I'm stuck in this bed you made,
    Alone with a sinking feeling.
I saw through the words you said,
To the secrets you've been keeping.
    It's written upon your face,
All the lies how they cut so deeply.
You can't get enough you take,
And take and take and never say.

~~The writer is being sexually abused in these two verses. He says he knew only the lies that the abuser told him, and is hurt, saying that it cuts deeply. The abuser just can't get enough.~~

No / you've gotta get it inside
You push it back down / You push it back down
No / you'll never get it inside
Push it back down / Black out / Blood in your eye

~~The writer is basically yelling at his abuser for wanting him, cursing.~~

You say that it's not your fault,
And swear that I am mistaken.
You said it's not what it seems,
No remorse for the trust you're breaking.
You run but then back you fall,
Suffocate in the mess you're making.
You can't get enough you take,
And take and take and take and take,
    Fuck it, are you listening?

~~When the writer stands up for himself, the abuser denies everything without a care for what he's done. The abuser tries to escape from the "lies" but falls down in obvious sight of his crimes. But the abuser still wants more. As the writer yells at the abuser, he stops and asks if he even is listening.~~

No / you've gotta get it inside
You push it back down / You push it back down
No / you'll never get it inside
Push it back down / You push it back down
No / you've gotta get it inside
You push it back down / You push it back down
No / you'll never get it inside
Push it back down / Black out / Blood in your eye

No / you'll never get it inside
Push it back down / Black out / Blood in your eye [Remixed]

Floating down / as colors fill the light
We look up from the ground / in fields of paperwhite
And floating up / you pass us in the night
A future gazing out / a past to overwrite
So come down / far below
We've been waiting to collect the things you know
    Come down / far below
We've been waiting to collect what you've let go

~~After all the events, someone is telling the writer to let go of his past, and create new memories, have a better and happy life, embrace it.~~

    Come down, oh. [Repeated]

~~Fall back into loved ones arms, into happiness.~~
