Linkin Park: Burning In The Skies Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Burning In The Skies Lyrics
The blood of innocence burning in the skies
I filled my cup with the rising of the sea
And poured it out in an ocean of debris
Oooooh, I'm swimming in the smoke
Of bridges I have burned
So don't...

#1 top rated interpretation:It's not as literal as it seems. Just because there is talk of burning and smoke does not mean it is about a war scenario.
The song is about painfully admitting to oneself that your significant other is not the one, that you two are not meant to be.
"I use the dead wood to make the fire rise
The blood of innocence burning in the skies"
The one who realizes the relationship is not right is intentionally trying to destroy the relationship (breaking up) to prevent pain in the future. That person feels bad because it is causing pain for the other (the innocent one).
"I'm swimming in the smoke
Of bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve"
The heartbreaker is feeling the pain of breaking off, too, because of how much the relationship meant to him or her. However, he or she doesn't want the other to feel bad because the heartbreaker knows he doesn't deserve him or her anyway.
"We held our breathe when the clouds began to form
But you were lost in the beating of the storm
But in the end we were meant to be apart
In separate chambers of the human heart"
They both knew it was coming, however it was impossible to stop because "the beating of the storm" was already acknowledged. They simply weren't meant to be.
Sad song. :( -

#2 top rated interpretation:first off bra, you're totally wrong.
it's deffinately talking about the bombing of innocent people and cities, hence, "the blood of innocence burning in the skies".
second off, knowing different songs by Linkin Park, and the way they subtly protest the government in their music, he's more than likely singing about war happening in the U.S., and how they foolishly and irresponsibly use violence to solve their problems.
"losing what i dont deserve", most likely refers to someone who was killed in "the storm", and "seperate chambers of the human heart" most likely refers to how it wasnt meant to be anyways -
I use the deadwood to make the fire rise:
Deadwood is a metaphor for war and weapons of mass destruction
Blood of innocence burning in the skies:
The albums main theme in my opinion is the similarities between hell as described by many religions around the world and the "hell" of war.
The burning in the skies refers to a hell on Earth. It's as if the smoke and destruction is the fuel to the fire (burning/killing) victims of warfare.
I filled my cup with the rising of the sea:
Humanity does not stop taking. It's never enough.
And poured it out in an ocean of debris:
Humanity has taken so much advantage of everything, everyone that there is noting left to put out the fire(war/death) as referred to in the previous lines . We have taken and turned it all into ash
Im swimming in the smoke of bridges I have burned so don't apologise Im losing what I don't deserve:
Humanity has burned their bridges of compassion with other human being. That's why we kill each other during warfare.
Don't feel sorry for us we deserve it.
We held our breaths when the clouds began to form:
Mushroom cloud from nuclear detonation
But you were lost in the beating of the storm:
Humanity was lost in it's storm.Humanity created that storm. That nuclear detonation is the storm that humanity is lost in.
We are both the cause and effect of nuclear warfare.
And in the end we were made to be apart:
We never found each other again after the storm(detonation)
Well obviously because one party dies in the explosion
However, I think this being apart is more poetic in nature.
We are apart from our own humanity
In separate chambers of the human heart:
Our compassion (heart) is not transfer to one another
We are destined to be enemies until be destroy the world
It's in the blackened bones of bridges I have burned:
Blackened bones(literally the skeleton on human being after it's been through an exposition.
Figuratively the skeleton left after we have burned down our bridges of compassion)
Please feel free to let me know if I am taking out of my ass.

I think its about relationships. But about the ones u have with ur past family or friends. The ones u had to cut off, hurting others like siblings or friendgroups in the processs

I read the first part but only a in aware music lover would have a interpretative of the wrong idea. Linkin park the band was based upon the releasing of someone out there who was born broken. Within their face there is another face deep down inside. That many from their album hybrid theory to living things and hunting party, explaining how they are to become the person that is in them. That what they display to all is not there inner self. That them a person is being fooled, lied to and manipulated. Listen to minutes to midnight to understand to meteora to comprehend. This is a battle between something on a level of god . Read there lyrics. If I want to believe burning in the skies is about relationship then ask have you seen the video? About dirt on one skin about the belly button to the forehead, that a bath can bring you some source of reflection such as a mirror. There music in a thousand sons is about god. U must be a fool to not know. Roman he says they call ahhh. For all to find gods name abba. To find their path less traveled. My name is Keijuan j Simon. And my life and my end to new beginnings started of with lpk and will end with lpk. Praise abba! I love all but if one knew me then u would know. This band and meaning relates more than the dirt on my skin to the turning of my nose. Believe me when I say it is scary. But iam, and you are not alone.! Praise abba.!!

First of all, this song is related to it's MV,that's for sure, it's about nuclear war.
Why?There was a phrase describing the nuclear war:We held our breath when the clouds began to fall, but you're lost in the beating of storm.
Let's take a look. What is the clouds, and why will it fall? There is a word for the components of "Clouds":Fallout, they "Fall out" of skies after the nuclear explosion,so the "Clouds" are mushroom clouds made by A-Bombs. And how about the beating of storm? It's firestorm, which is created by a nuclear explosion too.Since "you" are lost in the firestorm, then "we were made to be apart in separate chambers of the human heart" make sense (They are not connected,so we won't meet again) -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I agree that the main meaning would be about relationships, with probably some double meaning about war since the album has an underlying theme of humanity coming into the nuclear age. This song has been a healing influence in my life, so I have tweaked the meaning for myself. It's now about letting go of the toxic relationships, the smoke of the burned bridge is now a good thing to swim in, and I'm letting go of the bad things I never deserved.

I believe the song is meant to be about realationships. Or, in this case, the losing of them. They use great imagery to show the loss and destruction by the use of fire in the first verse and a tempest in the second. They depict a broken relationship(s) between subject and someone or a group. They "burn the bridges," or destroy the relationship and people get mixed into the situation that have no need getting pulled it "blood of innocents burning in the skies."But for the most part, it is about a severed love relationship where two are separated and placed "in two separate chambers of the human heart." As this person uses "driftwood to make the fire rise," or to try to get over this lost love. But the subject admits that he is "losing what I don't Deserve." Just my interpretation.
-
At first i took it as a song about war and the innocent being casualties of wars they wanted no part of (the music video kinda backed that one up too), but i reallly like the interpretation with regards to relationships and breaking up... definitely my favorite of the 2.
-
It means that they are singing about all the wars and bombs thats happening.
"Blood of the innocent means" that all the bombings killed people.Theyre refering to nagasaki and hiroshima. -
wow... I totally agree with the interpretation about the relationship. nice Job :)
-
I think this song is talking about someone who is cutting themselves of from the world.
"Don't apologize, I'm losing what I don't deserve..."
This could mean that the person did something they really, truly regret and think they need to separate themselves from society in order to atone for it.
"We held our breathe when the clouds began to form
But you were lost in the beating of the storm..."
This could mean that the person's loved ones are looking for them but they can't find the person.
"But in the end we were meant to be apart
In separate chambers of the human heart..."
This could mean that the people searching finally realize that this was meant to happen, and that they can't change it. -
i think it has something to do with how people are arrogant to see what they are doing to the enviornment. "im swiming in the smoke"-the pollution in the air, "of bridges i have burned"-could mean the destruction of the enviornment, "so dont apoligize, of losing what i dont deserve"-we saw it coming, the horrible, smog-filled future...

All the interpretation I read was great, and this is mine
"I use the dead wood to make a fire rise
The blood of innocence burning in the skies
I filled my cup with the rising of the sea
And poured it out in an ocean of debris"
I think it means when we are trying to get our necessities, innocence people are being killed[mostly by war or bomb]
"We held our breath when clouds began to form
But you were lost in the beating of the storm
And in the end we were made to be apart Like separate chambers of the human heart"
we got shocked and scared when we found innocence people are killed brutally because they were human and had their lives.wars and fights make us apart.
"It's in the blackened bones
Of bridges I have burned"
I think [it] refers to peace and freedom, that means the freedom or peace is in the burned bones of innocence people who are killed
"I'm swimming in the smoke
Of bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve losing"
we are losing peace and we have burned bridges of peace.
"The blame is mine alone
For bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve"
every human is guilty for the things happened around us so we dont deserve freedom.
great band,great song -
its about how we ravage and destroy the earth and its people WITH war
'I used the deadwood to make the fire rise'
'The blood of innocence burning in the skies'
'Of bridges I have burned'
and i know those are not in order
In the end we should not have been made to coexist with the earth.
And in the end we wer made to be apart
The separate chambers of the human heart
I'm losing what I don't deserve - we are destroying the earth which we should have never been put on.
