Lying from You Lyrics

When I pretend everything is what I want it to be
I look exactly like what you always wanted to see
When I pretend, I can’t forget about the criminal I am
Stealing second after second just cause I know I can but
I can’t pretend this is the...

It's obvious "I look exactly like what you had always wanted to see" means that someone is controlling his life "I can forget about the criminal I am
Stealing second after second just 'cause I know I can" He's stealing every second he can being this imposter that he has to be for this person "I can't pretend I'm who you want me to be, so I'm lying my way from you" it means he can't keep putting on this mask so hes staying away from this person. "The very worst part of you is me" the worst part of the person controlling him is him because the person doesn't know how he really is

"I remember what they taugt to me remember condescending talk of who I ought to be" people scolding him to change. There are so many hints in this song I know so well because I have a simliar relationship with my aunt she is mad because I am not how she wanted me to be so I have to put on a mask.

To me the song is about changing aspects of your personality to please someone else and be who they want you to behave the way the people around this person say you should behave in order to keep this person “i remember what they taught to me, remember condescending talk of who i ought to be”. After putting in all this effort to please this person and meet the criteria to stay in their life they have grown resentful towards them, and the pressure of suppressing their own needs and emotions for the sake of this other person has made them angry and they want to just pull away from them and regain their own self and life back. They have essentially realised that changing themselves for this person wasn’t worth it.

Sounds like somebody wants him to be something he cant or doesn't want to be.

hes put up a facade to please to person that didnt like him before the facade
hes taking as many seconds as he can
he knows it cant stay this way and believes he isnt lying to the person about who he is,just bending the truth a bit
he acknowledges that fact that he cant have this facade up forever

hes lying to this person, trying to push them farther and farther away from him
    he cant turn back now
he wants to be pushed aside to not hurt the other person,he'd rather be all alone then faking his life
    he cant turn back
he has realized hed be better off
he feels like he has to be the person that they want him to be instead of himself
they repeatedly talked to him about wo he should be,not who he is
he made up this "character" to please them
everybody thinks the "character" is him
he pretends to be this person and starts pulling away from them
the very worst part of them is him
he drops the facade and scares them all off
hes decides on something different and wont turn back from it
he tells them to let him go because he doesnt want to hurt them
he has became the person he used to be but all alone
hes on his own and can "truly" see
he refuses to turn back into the facade
and the worst part of them is him

It's about someone who's been obligated to pretend someone he/she ain't. now he/she's sick of it and want to be he/her self even if he/she it's pushed aside

I agree for the most part with Silversquall. However, I don't think the ending is him revealing his personality, but that he was trying to get the other person to push him away him without having to hurt them by revealing the truth. ("I wanna be pushed aside") That way he doesn't have to pretend anymore, but also doesn't hurt the person he cared about by showing them it was all a lie. It seemed like he went a little too far with this and got completely shoved away and hurt/scared the person on accident. ("This isn't what I wanted to be, I never thought that what I said would have you running from me like this")

He's pretending to be how he was before, but it's changed. He's not that person anymore. He's pretending he is, because he doesn't wanna hurt the person who he cares about.

Although they controlled him, he still cares about them and doesn't want them to know he doesn't feel the same. He knows what they're doing, but he's letting them do it. He's being who they want him to be, because it's easier. He wants it to stop but he's not sure how to stop it without hurting that person's feelings,

The very worst part of you, is me- this line pretty much means he feels responsible for them, he feels he has to be who they want him to be. Otherwise he risks losing that person and he doesn't want to.

This isn't what I wanted to be I never thought that what I said would have you running from me like this-im not too sure about this bit, because the rest of it I was speaking from personal experience. I guess, he told the person he doesn't want it to be this way anymore, he wants it to be equal,
and they took it the wrong way, and left him, alone.

This song is about someone trying to forget who they really are and trying to become a better person for the sake of themselves and someone close to them.

Hm, never saw this as being an issue of control, at least not in the way people were talking about.

"When I pretend everything is what I want it to be
I look exactly like what you always wanted to see"
-Some simple points. He's pretending to be something that the other wants him to be, and he's fine with it because "everything is what [he] wants it to be".

"When I pretend, I can’t forget about the criminal I am
Stealing second after second just cause I know I can but
I can’t pretend this is the way it’ll stay I’m just
    (trying to bend the truth)"
-So there's something criminal/bad about the fact that he's pretending. So even though he's "fine" with it, and the other wants it that way, he's still something wrong with it. And he's not sure if "it'll stay" this way, this lie that he's living.

"I can’t pretend I’m who you want me to be, so I’m"
-He's reversing what he said earlier. He just can't live the lie anymore. The momentum of the verse escalates into the chorus where he realizes that he's just plain sick with the situation.

    [Chorus]
    "(Lying my way from you)
    No no turning back now
(I wanna be pushed aside so let me go)
    No no turning back now
(Let me take back my life,I’d rather be all alone)
    No turning back now
(Anywhere on my own because I can see)
    No no turning back now
(The very worst part of you is me)"
-This just goes into how he can't talk what's going on. It's going to end, the lie he's living. He's admitting that he's a bad person and that the other should just leave. The last line refers to how he really does see that he is the most terrible thing about the other and that the other's better off if he leavves.

"I remember what they taught to me
Remember condescending talk of who I ought to be
Remember listening to all of that and this again
So I pretended up a person who was fittin’ in"
-I see this as how he's remembering back in the days before he lived in a lie. He was scolded alot. Looked down alot. So he made up a persona to fit in, a model personality.

"And now you think this person really is me and I’m
    (Trying to bend the truth)
But the more I push the more I'm pulling away 'cuz I'm"
-But he doesn't want to lie to the other anymore with this model personality that he made.

    [Chorus]

"This isn’t what I wanted to be, I never thought that what I said would
have you running from me {repeats}"
-And the way I saw it, this set of repeated lines pretty much concludes the interp. He revealed his personality to the other, and now they're scared of him. He had wanetd to leave, but he didn't imagine that the other would react at such an extreme level.

I think that this song says that someone is controlling there life so he tells lies to everyone so that he will hate him and near the end he starts to feel sorry for all of the lies that he made up.

When Chester says "The very worst part of me/Is you." means that the other person has controlled him so much that he's starting to turn into the person he hates so much.
