Linkin Park: Roads Untraveled Meaning
Roads Untraveled Lyrics
Weep not for paths left lone
Cause beyond every bend is a long blinding end
Its the worst kind of pain I've known
Give up your heart left broken.
And let that mistake pass on
Cause the love that you lost...

#2 top rated interpretation:I remember a beautiful poem by Robert Frost "The Road not Taken". It describes a man's dilemmatic situation, as he travels on a journey how he gets stuck up on a bend, where the road diverges into two. Both are equally fair and beautiful, however one is a very frequented one with many footsteps on it, while the other is quite unused. He decides to take the one not travelled, saying how he also wishes to travel the other, but as paths lead on to more paths, he will probably never go back again. He later says he took the second, and that has made all the difference in his life and he will not regret it.
Hearing the folklore based tune of Roads Untravelled and it striking similarity to this poem, I just can't help but feel that Linkin Park was inspired by Frost. This poem could probably even refer to their (the band's) hard struggle in the music world, and how they left the road of Nu Metal and now are on Alt. Rock. Or, as the concept behind the album is, it could be another song directed towards those who lose direction in life and are confused on what to do next. It describes the vitality of every decision in shaping you....

A kind of lyrics designed as one-to-one consolation. (i.e.) both the writer and ppl share similar condition.
The writer, I believe, isn't quite sure of the argument he suggested in order to convince himself and the rest of us with. Said he," cause beyond every bend is a long blinding end". Instead of explaining how does that work as we're not accustomed to take blinding ends as painful but, actually, a fresh start, the writer just amplified the argument with an open ended piece of thought: it's the worst kind of pain I've known; and in time you'll be glad it's gone. It's much like, is that for real? Because we've never taken it this way before, you too. In short, the song " roads untravelled " was purposed to have a pause in order to release the misery inside for pointless, if not toxic, entertainment. We can refer to:
( The song melancholic tone and the growing sorry cries).
( The song offers no resolution. That is to say, there's no room for positive vibes in this one as the writer planned to persuade us with his arguments why we shouldn't feel sorry for a life we live in as merely observers like for good). -
Oh man this song, my boyfriend put in this CD and this song played while he broke up with me and he gave me one last hug and all I could remember was the beautiful and grieving sound of the music. When I found it and heard it, it was suddenly easier to let go of him. I think it's about a relationship that's ending because it has to not because they lost feelings, but it'll be better this way, to not cry about it because it's not worth the tears, the two can still be friends if they ever need it and there will be a better path waiting for them both.

I always see this song to be very curious as it indicates two perspectives! I believe if I was the singer I would be singing this to my past self! The reflection comes into play at "give up your heart left broken and let that mistake pass on" - I see this as one self looking at their reflection in a mirror or their flashback/past! Either this or it's a heart breaking story of a guy being civil to an ex partner with "if you need a friend there's a seat here alone side me"... Either way, the images in my head are blue and dark showing sadness! I see myself in a dress possibly having this song play to an ex lover I still want however they may not hear it! I see myself as a ghost in this stories.

Very interesting lyrics with various meanings in regards to desires and wishes in life that do not happen. The lyrics inspire us to not dwell on regret of the unknown. Ironically, sometimes what we wish for and want does happen for us, yet many time we regret those wishes and desires.

I think it's about a guy who loves a girl who left him & then married another guy and now he's telling himself to let her go("weep no for roads untraveled/paths left alone/sights unseen","love that you lost wasn't worth what it cost") and at the end he's talking to her & saying okay, I get you love this guy, I still wanna be here for you ("may your love never end and if you need a friend there's a seat here alongside me").

I know that Robert Frost poem (and quoted it in a speech earlier this year). I agree because when I listened to the lyrics of this song, that poem and how I deciphered it was all that came to mind.
