Lupe Fiasco: Battle Scars Meaning
Song Released: 2012
Battle Scars Lyrics
That's cos you at war with ... love
You at war with.... love
These battle scars
don't look like they're fading
don't look like they're ever going away
they aint never gonna change
these...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think it's about how this guy is still madly in love with this girl, even though they broke up. He wants her back even though he messed things up, and he's trying to forget her because all his friends are saying that he should forget her, but the scars that he left on both of them aren't healing and only God can fix, the mistakes he made.

2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:This song is mainly about a guy who is going through a tough time in his life and is looking for guidence from God. But see not only is this song about him but its also about how others felt their lives were like. And those people wrote how they felt and then ripped out all those pages and ripped up every single individual page and by doing so they are saying no more pain no more suffering it is time that i find GOD.

#3 top rated interpretation:It is about your own personal battle scars and even though it may seem hard you have to confront them.

TW: SH!
I think it's about the guy who fell in love and it didn't work out. He became depressed and felt as though everything was his fault and it led to him cutting himself because he thinks he deserves it. I can almost guarantee it's about sh because he refers to them as his battle scars. -
That this song is about a guy That is Still Madly Inlove with his Girlfriend who Keeps cheating and always threatens to leave him, he still wants it to work out
-
I thought it was as about a boy who loves this girl he found out she cheated multiple times, to lead him to hitting a brick wall being depressed and angry to only have the choice of cutting his self "battle scars"
-
I feel like it's the result of being heartbroken. Just the simple fact that it's a one-sided love and he doesn't want it to end, but it ended. I also feel like the "Battle Scars" he's talking about are the cuts and the depression he got after the relationship - whether it was healthy or an abusive - and just the post-relationship sadness he may have gotten.
-
This made me feel okay about my scars that ive had after my time in hospital and makes me feel like I can get past this barrier I know that this is not what it means but this song really means the world to me and I just wanted to say that x
-
It sounds like someone who's in a one sided emotionally abusive relationship. They know they should leave, they're seeing all the signs but they do truly love them and they cant bring themselves to do it. Eventually the pain of being hurt by someone you love so much makes you wish you couldn't feel at all. It's hard to leave an abusive relationship when you yourself dont want to hurt the other person and so you stay because even though you're being hurt you cant stand to do it to the other person, so you just stay wishing they would end it so you dont have to.
-
This song is most likely about an on-off relationship. They love each other and then they hate each other. The process just repeats like one of those fortune teller flowers until there are no more petals and a final decision is made.
-
I think in this song the singer talks about an one sided love that he has for a girl.
-
I think this song is about the scars that being in love gives you. Even after they're gone, the scars they left are still there. This song is about loving someone who hurts you so much that it drives you mad, and it feels like the wounds you've acquired will never heal. It hurts so much that you wish you couldn't even feel, because feeling nothing is better than hurting like you are now.
-
Holding on to each other
-
I think it is about a person who got dumped and he doesn’t want to show that he loves her but deep down he still does.
-
I think this song is about a guy who is still in love with this girl that he is no longer with. He still wants to be with her and is trying to make things work and fix things but it isn't working so well. She seems to have given up and is moving on possibly but he can't right now cause he still loves her. They've been through a lot of ups and downs and fights and makeups and memories and he's holding on to that. He has battles scars, which I think represents hurt and pain from everything they've been through and are currently going through.
-
I think this song is about how this guy joins the military but his girlfriend breaks up with him
-
I think it about letting someone down and letting the people you care and love about leave. Leaving you and you just feel so upset
-
i thought "Battle scars' was about him cutting after a break up
