Lupe Fiasco: The Show Goes On Meaning
The Show Goes On Lyrics
(Let's go)
All right, already
The show goes on
All night 'til the morning
We dream so long
Anybody ever wonder
When they would see the sun go
Just remember when you come up
The show goes on...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song is saying dont let people hold you back and treat you like your nothing, you need to stand up and rise above them and show them your more then what they say you are, its not just aiming at ghetto kids its aiming at the kids who really dont do well in life or school and its telling them that they still have a chance unlike what society says. But in the end its really just how it speaks to YOU. One thing i love about music is that you can have your favorite song be the same song as someone elses but what you think of it i different and it helps you the way you want it to. So just chase your dreams or fly in the sky, its whatever the show is to you:)

#2 top rated interpretation:He is talking about kids who just mess around
all the time, and don't ever amount to anything because nobody was there to guide them to make the right choices. So they end up troubled. "Alright, already the show goes on", means if you don't get your act together
and follow your dreams, and stay on it,the show will go on with or without you. So, he is preaching a positive message instead of a destructive one, like most rap songs are notorious for. He is giving people encouragement who aren't already completely lost yet and still have that chance.. so they should take it. -

#3 top rated interpretation:The first verse was aimed at his record label for forcing him to make the song. They told him he had to do it or the album wouldn't come out. There was a big protest called Fiasco Friday where he addressed the issue. If you listen to the song in that context, you can easily see how the lyrics fit the moment. He said in an interview that now that they've forced it out, it will be a hit and every time they hear it they will know that he's talking s**t about them.

My interpretation of this song sends this message:
"Life may be tough. You may be going through hard and challenging times. But, no matter what, you will pull through." -
to me this song is directed to rich and poor alike. dont let people label you or parents pressure you into getting a degree in something that you have absolutely no interest in. at the end of the day do what you are passionate about, do it to the best of your ability and that is success in itself. show people you are happy being you even though what you are doing doesnt make some people happy with you.

Never in life give up,do right things at the right time-know what your up to be there for yourself nor matter how the situation is in your life cz the future's in your hands!!!

It's about telling the kids in the ghettoes that the "world is theirs" and to not let the people that crush their dreams come in the way

I think that this song is about how underprivaleged kids living in the ghetto have a chance to follow their dreams and do whatever they want. It is praising them and their supporters while dissing their parents who make them live in the ghetto.

i think it means that no matter where you come from in life, whether it be poor or wealthy you have to stand for what you want and never give up.
