Long Day Lyrics

It's sitting by the overcoat,
The second shelf, the note she wrote
That I can't bring myself to throw away
And also
Reach she said for no one else but you,
Cuz you won't turn away
When someone else is gone

I'm sorry 'bout the attitude
I...

I think this song is about someone not being able to get over an ex, and they know they can't but know they should, and generally isn't very positive about themself. "its me ..well I can't get myself to go away" They know its them that's to blame for the relationship not being so good....I think.

Clearly he is talking about drugs. It’s been a long day. What do people do after a “long day”?? They drink, take a pill, escape reality. Reach down your hand in your pocket, grab whatever and don’t feel shit anymore.

I believe this song is about struggling with anxiety and it almost consuming you. Feeling mentally just tired from what has been a long day of dealing with your anxiety, but to everyone else just a regular day.
    "I won't go away."
The Anxiety wont leave his head. It is stuck and he feels stuck.
"Reach down your hand in your pocket, pull out some hope for me."
This could be him searching in others to help help, or trying to.

    Split Personalities.?.?.

Left a note, to say how difficult life is when her illness turns her into someone she cannot get away from. Herself.

'You won't turn away when someone else is gone'
When her 'other self' returns, he is the one she knows will always be there for her.

'sorry bout the attitude I need to give when I'm with you. But no one else will take this shit from me'
She can be either side of herself around him and she's apologizing to him for the hateful, more blunt.. obnoxious self that she becomes @ times.

'Pull out some hope for me, it's been a long day. Always. Ain't that right?'
= Medication that is supposed to keep her stable but only makes it to where she is on the verge of insanity between feeling as though both personalities are nearly conflicting with one another internally.-'Just keep you trembling'

'I'm surprised that you'd believe in anything that comes from me.
I didn't hear from you or from someone else.'-
Without it having to be said out loud, she knows that she is an unreliable, deceitful
kind of person, depending on the day/personality.

Then it seems that the other personality is beginning to shine thru and states how he is so ho-hum/'set in life' and it's too bad society's standard are what he goes by so that he may get ahead in life one day, but she's gotta go bec 'they're waiting' ...
'so what?? , So, long' -so what if that's you but I gotta go have my fun now.

'I cant get myself to go away'
    - Literally , cant control the other side of herself and can only express the dislike for her ways and apologize for the errors while she's this way.

'oh, god I shouldn't feel this way'
this is definitely a hard way to live and most don't have to go thru this in life. It's a 'why me,god?' type of statement.

To me its about drugs and addiction. Reaching out for drugs because they never turn away. They're the hope in your pocket. With addiction, the problem is the individual, and you can't get away from yourself, so you cant get away from the problem.

In this song, the speaker is saying that they are very upset and angry about his loved one leaving him. He can't do anything about all his thoughts though and he wants someone to reach out to him with help. He is angry because he thinks his loved one got over it much faster and it almost seems as if she never cared as much as he did.

WELL THIS SONG WAS ABOUT HOW HIS GIRLFRIEND WAS TRYING TO GET TO KNOW HIM AND ASKED ABOUT PAST RELATIONSHIPS WHEN HE HAD TOLD HER OF A NOTE THAT HE WOULDNT THROW AWAY BECAUSE HE STILL WAS HEART BROKEN. SHE WANTED HIM TO GET PAST THE EX AND HE JUST WANTED TO HAVE SOMEONE BELIEVE IN HIM.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
