Who Is It Lyrics

I Gave Her Money
I Gave Her Time
I Gave Her Everything
Inside One Heart Could Find
I Gave Her Passion
My Very Soul
I Gave Her Promises
And Secrets So Untold

And She Promised Me Forever
And A Day We'd Live As One
We Made Our Vows
We'd...

Michael Jackson, at one point in his life, was totally in love with Diana Ross… They started out as friends, but that grew into love. After he was old enough, of course, she returned the adult love in kind. They had a lot in common and Michael adored her. He had not the ability to convey his emotions to her in a manner which told her exactly how he felt. He started to become very shy in the late 80s and early 90s to the point where he wore sunglasses everywhere and would not take them off. He was very "submissive" to those around him.

(Michael was either stunted in his ability to interact with women on a romantic level or he was endearingly old-fashioned in his approach. Either way, the women he dated thought they were just friends or they had to make the "move" themselves. He admitted that he never asked a woman out… That they had to ask him.)

However, while in love with Diana, she told him "behind closed doors" that they would be together forever… even get married. Diana [publicly] made it known that she thought that Michael was "sexy" and she was very into him… As time went on, she could not handle the fact that he was so so shy as far as their intimate relationship was concerned.

She eventually left the country, met, fell in love with and married another man. She didn't even so much as "hint" to Michael that she did not want to be with him anymore. She simply abandon him. ( hence; "Who is it?" ) His heart was totally broken and it took him years to get over her. Not only did he have feelings for her for a long time, it was trouble for all the relationships he would try to enter because he still loved her. He eventually got over her… Somehow… But, in the interim, he was very sad and he longed for her.

Diana was interviewed once, and she said of her husband, "I like a man that has his own self-esteem"… That sent a message that she was uneasy/displeased with Michael's shyness and did not want to marry him. (Personally, I think that's a crock… But that was her excuse. If you love somebody, you don't stop loving them because something happens in their lives that makes them become shy… It just makes no sense to me... other than she was just selfish and would have rather have had him out on "her arm" all the time rather than alone at home, etc.)

Even in the video, that seemed to present the goings on of "high end escorts"...the golden credit card-like " Business cards" that the escort handed out had the name 'Diana' on it. Also, when the "John" was shown, his name was 'Adam.' Diana's husband's name was Arne ( of course, Michael wasn't going to use his real name in his music video )... but, it had four letters and started with "A".

I think the song pretty much sums up how he felt about her....and then how felt once he was "abandoned" by her. He was SO HURT, I think the "escort" approach to the video was a "stick it to her", knee jerk reaction .

Once her husband died, their friendship ensued.

Mj is just basically talking about all the women who hurted him, his friends, relatives and even his brother. "Is it my brother?" is literally talking about his 2 brothers who got involved with one woman..
Most of the parts in the song is about him. The first verse is him giving all that he has and yet he didn't the loyalty from that woman.. He even talked about it in "Glenda & Sam Stein secret phone convo"..

    Deeper into : FM

Fame is a heavy highway , selling ur soul , made him understand:

    I am the damned
    I am the dead
    I am the agony inside
    The dying head
    This is injustice
    Woe unto thee
    I pray this punishment
    Would have mercy on me

but she left to another soul, but who? Inana? (Diana) , time left not much§§

It is about a man who is desperate in love with a woman (an escort/high end “prostitute”) and who also has feelings for him. She is entangled in the web of the multi-hand business. As she also wishes to be with him, she is forced to do what she’s told by those who run the business. Michael clearly portrayed the situation and warning as well. Unfortunately, he also portrays the unhappiness of his lover who is forced to be with others.

The lyrics of the song tell of a man who is left in despair when his lover suddenly leaves him. He learns that she was unfaithful to him and wants to know with whom she cheated.

It's not about Diana.. It's about basically a streetwalker, Like Dangerous, Dirty Diana, Who Is It they all have similar type of meanings.. Who Is It is about: A man (whom could be Michael) who has fallen in love with a proustite and she keeps lying to him.. He becomes suspicious at why she is so secretive & why she goes out all the time.. It's because she's a proustite. She has these silver cards with different names and get all dressed up to meet different people. Michael starts to think she's cheating and wonders with who? A friend of his? Or his brother? When he finds out what her little game is (she's playing with him and other people) He leaves on his plane and when the girl goes to meet him the other man tells her it's too late.. She messed up now Michael is left heartbroken & the girl goes on with her life continuing her job. ( This probably wasn't the best lol )

From both the lyrics and video, it sounds like MJ was suspecting either his brother or friend in selling his girlfriend into sex slavery after he introduced her to them. The video could be the manifestation of his fears, possibly released by non-scientific means, and never actually produced by a recording company. This can also be some universal truth.

I think the song is about getting dumped. Michael could be saying "who is it that she cheated with?" This is apparent in the second verse

Who Is It" is a song by American recording artist Michael Jackson. "Who Is It" was released by Epic Records on August 31, 1992, as the fifth single from Jackson's eighth studio album, Dangerous in 1991. The song was written and composed by Jackson, and produced by Jackson and Bill Bottrell. The song's lyrics pertain to despair over being left by someone you love; some critics noted a comparison to the lyrics of the song to Jackson's single, "Billie Jean" from the album Thriller. The song was not performed by Jackson on any of his world concert tours. He did, however, perform a small segment of the song in his interview with Oprah Winfrey in early 1993. The instrumental version of the song was supposed to be used during the "This Is It concerts" which was canceled due to Jackson's death. As part of the promotion for the song, two music videos were released in the same year. The single was released only two days after Jackson's 34th birthday.
