Modest Mouse: Ocean Breathes Salty Meaning
Song Released: 2004
Ocean Breathes Salty Lyrics
In my head, in my heart, in my soul.
And maybe we'll get lucky and we'll both live again.
Well I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Don't think so.
Well that is that and this is this.
You...

I believe this song is talking about someone wasting his life following god.

I definitely agree that someone must have died...More specifically, took their own life. However, the end of the video throws me off a little because of all of the crosses (after he burries the bird). Do these just symbolize a bunch of different birds that this boy has done the same thing to (tried to heal, but then burries)? Or do they represent more people who have killed themselves/died? I'm a little confused now...

To me, this song is talking about a close friend that killed themself and now he is talking about what they missed out on and how they wasted their life, so why wouldnt they do the same with their afterlife? It's a great song, and to me that's my closest and purist meaning.
