Songs about Suicide
The ultimate act of protest, against the world, the heavens, and life itself. These songs are about suicide, including the suicides of other characters both real and fictional, urging the listener to not give up hope, or just expressing suicide as a nihilist, destructive impulse.
Disney documentaries about lemmings (where it came to light that they were shoving them off the cliff from behind camera) notwithstanding, humans are the only species to voluntarily end their own lives as a means to itself. Take it as a given that these songs will have dark subject matter at least, and even sometimes shocking and disturbing as well.

Black Orchid Blue October
"Empty bed and all of the sheets are gone,
They're wrapped around me and you.
All is quiet but the drop of a gun.
I want to belong...to someone...
But maybe life's not for everyone." -

Stan Eminem
"I'm in the car right now, I'm doing 90 on the freeway
Hey Slim, I drank a fifth of vodka, you dare me to drive?
You know the song by Phil Collins, "In the Air of the Night"
about that guy who coulda saved that other guy from drowning
but didn't, then Phil saw it all, then at a a show he found him?
That's kinda how this is, you coulda rescued me from drowning" -

The Most Peculiar Man Paul Simon
"He died last Saturday
He turned on the gas and he went to sleep
With the windows closed so he'd never wake up
To his silent world and his tiny room" -

War on Drugs Barenaked Ladies
"Near where I live there's a viaduct
Where people jump when they're out of luck
Raining down on the cars and trucks below
They've put a net there to catch their fall
Like it'll stop anyone at all" -

When I Fall Barenaked Ladies
"They’re lined up at the window, peer down into limbo
They’re frightened of jumping, in case they survive." -
