It’s based off of Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible” and Abigail who is one of the main characters lusts for John Proctor who had a affair with Abigail on his wife Elizabeth Procter. John denies Abigail multiple times which in turn she continues to lust for him. The line “this rope round my neck” relates to the fact that because of Abigail many people we’re put to death by hanging.
