My Chemical Romance: Burn Bright Meaning
Burn Bright Lyrics
I can take it
We walked alone in your city lights
Did you make it?
We lit the fire and it's burning bright
Did you take it?
Kissed all the boys in your city lights
Did you make it?
Left all the stars in your...

#1 top rated interpretation:I've always interpreted it as kind of Gerard's hidden "coming out."
Alot of the lyrics point towards him saying that he's in love with another guy. -
2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:Illuminati? lol this song is about being in love with another guy (probably that whole Frank/Gerard thing).
"They always told that you never get to heaven with a love like yours" is obviously about homosexuality being seen as a sin, and then there are parts about no being ashamed of who he is and stuff. Pretty obvious for me. -

"So give me all you’ve got,
I can take it
We walked alone in your city lights
Did you make it?
We lit the fire and it’s burning bright
Did you take it?
Kissed all the boys in your city lights
Did you make it?
Left all the stars in your city nights
Can you fake it?"
The way I see things, this song is about him singing to someone who was raised in a world where all the attention was on them (for the sake of "Kissed all the boys", it'll be a girl), and everyone else stood behind the scenes, basking in the light she was given.
But then she gets sick of it. She realizes that there's no purpose in that life. So she's telling him all her problems, hence "I can take it", and he's asking her if she can fake the light that she had before, but of course, it was all a lie that she had been fed all her life.
"Cause it makes me who I am
We lit the fire
And it’s burning bright
Not ashamed of what I am
I took the pills
For these empty nights
‘Cause it makes me who I am"
So he tells her about a group of people who stole the fire (the fame, the inspiration, the glory) from that place and made it something even brighter.
"They always told me that
“You'll never get to heaven
With a life like yours.
Well, if you’re lost, little boy,
Oh, well, the cameras pull you right back down, yeah.
It’s like a chemical burn,
I'm peeling off your skin, yeah.
And when you see your face,
Well, you'll never be the same again, yeah.”"
Next, he's telling her about his life, how he was raised under the same lies that said he couldn't be good enough the way he was.
And if someone born into this tried to find the truth, they were pulled back down by the flashing lights and glittering stars of that lifestyle. The chemical burn could be harsh words that changed them permanently into someone they were never meant to be.
"Cause if you just stop breathing,
I'll stop, I'll stop my heart
I'll stop breathing too"
So he's chosen her as someone who he is set on saving, and if she gives up, then he will too.
"I'd trade the world for your city nights"
In contrast to "City lights", "City nights" would be the absence of light, the purity behind everything that was going on in the city of lies.
"And though I missed the chance for this,
I confess that I can’t wait,
Until it’s gone
No I mean this every single day
So go if you can’t burn inside
‘Cause the world don’t need
Another hopeless cause"
He's telling her that he's putting his all into restoring her to her true self, and that if she can't handle being that, then he doesn't have to waste more time on her (though he probably would), because she would then be just another hopeless cause like all the others.
"I burned it all and I'm doin' fine
‘Cause I’ll never fade away,
If I steal the fire from your city nights"
One last time, he assures her that this is the only way to live, that he's doing fine even though he burned his past life which was probably very traumatic.
And he'll stop at nothing to ensure that she carries on the truth that he has to offer by making the fire within her (and hey, all of us, considering that this was their last album) burn bright as part of their legacy.
~Now, I don't know if this was Gerard Way's intention, but I don't think it was about homosexuality or the Illuminati so... I hope this was something that was never thought of before and that it will encourage someone to burn bright as well. -
To me this is about someone thats completely lost in life and has maybe some sort of self destruction addiction?
The lyrics are really powerful and always make me cry. I cant believe they arent a band anymore :( -
i believe that MCR is not an illuminati because there song are about changing yourself....in danger days its not about Illuminati its about what happening right now on our world like the new world order or corrupt government...listen to Sing and bulletproof heart you can find the lyrics "tell the truth and God will save you..."

Ok - MCR and the illuminati? As far as i'm concerned this band saved my life and I love them dearly - whatever they have been or are part of is up to them. All you read about the illuminati are conspiracys and noone knows the truth or the full aspect of the truth. I interpret Burn Bright as a song for outcasts standing out and fighting society - the clean corporate world. CW was made before Danger Day's but it's just as good as all the MCR stuff - I hope to hear of the next album soon. People need to start respecting MCR they are honest, decent guys, I love them to pieces - Even Mikey's incident with cheating on Alicia... It hasn't stopped me loving them. I'm now off to twitter... which is @RealBenRist so if anyone wants to comment about what i've said... do it there! Piece out to the masses.

Lol you are part of their team? And what brainwashing techniques were used in the black parade? I thought the album pretty much sold itself... And the stuff Gerard come out with about the album that must have been b.s if it isn't even their work and the sole purpose was just to sell records
-
I hope they remain honest and grounded. Imagine they turn out to be something completely different. Sell outs :/
-
My Chemical Romance are trying to expose the illuminati - that was what Danger Days is about and the CW has been reworked to expose them. Bob Bryar is still part of them which is why he had to leave. I know this because I am part of their team. On The Black Parade, alot of illuminati brainwashing techniques were used - Mainly to sell albums. Right now MCR are the most honest band around and people need to start respecting them.
-
Lol I don't think they ever joined and no song from black parade has any hidden agenda behind it. Like most lyrics there left for the interpretation of it audience, so rather than 'jump the gun'I suggest you listen much closely to their songs. Also what would you say about 'Tomorrows Money' from CW? I think that is an anti illuminati song aint it?
