Dead! Lyrics

And if your heart stops beating
I'll be here wondering
'Did you get what you deserve?'
The ending of your life

And if you get to heaven
I'll be here waiting, babe
Did you get what you deserve?
The end
And if your life won't wait
Then...

This song may also go with the album, saying that the whole album is a story of a patient dying, but I also think there's more to this song. 'And if you get to heaven' so the person telling this story has already died and asking someone, someone that he/she never really liked, if there life will end as well. 'i'll be here waiting babe. Did you get what you deserve? The end' it's just saying that I'm leaving this lifetime, and I wonder if ill see you in heaven. I wonder if your going to get what you deserve.

I think this song is about a dude who had a girlfriend or somebody who maybe cheated on him or somethin(basically she did something to really piss him off) and he's happy that she's dead an he never felt like she loved him...

First I wanna say that MAYBE dead peoples got confuse when they dead.

In this song about story a man who looking to somone corpse and he talking to himself about life and laughing at that corpse. Maybe he felt happy to that corpse because after dead, they not think in about a complicated life. With the sametime he thinks maybe that corpse doesn't have to dead yett cause something that maybe it never do, like love.

Then after the "lalalalala", the man got dizzy with "if life aint just a joke, then why arent you laughing" in his head. He thinks and thinks harder, and he remember things. The things he remember about he before "lalalalala". He was in a hospital and the doctor says he got 2 weeks left. He desperate, remember he never have love, and want to take everyone with him (with gun) because its so unfair. Its maybe because "everyone" are the laughter who laugh about his life which never got love.

After more thinks now he remember that he was dead. And the corpse he looks are his corpse. Thats why the "we are dead" is changes to "Im dead" at the end.

I think that this album as a whole deals with other characters besides just the patient, I actually think that his is the death of someone the patient new, possibly his lover, or possibly someone with him in the hospital

I don't know what kind of situation he is describing exactly.

But he's talking about the meaning of life.
As you can see at the end when he asks "If life ain't just a joke then why are we laughing ? ".
Cause we all have to die, the life means nothing or at least not much to him !
I don't know how to say that in englisch but in german we say "Nihilismus".

The combined analysis of both The End and Dead as one song but two different parts of that song is necessary in understanding What exactly is happening to The Patient. The very first 4 lines in The End almost give the song's meaning away in its entirety. "come one and all to this tragic affair" is pretty self explanatory ie. The Patient found out his imminent death and lamenting. "Wipe off that make up" implies that The Patient had a very uncaring possibly ignorant viewpoint towards life/death and now is whipping off the "makeup" that previously was blinding him. realizes just how much he really cared about dying. After that line Gerard says several things implementing The Patients distaste in his life before he discovered the true value of it; "wake up and notice you're someone you're not" "if you look in the mirror and don't like what you see".

I think that the death being referred to in this song is that of a relationship,
"No one ever had much nice to say
I think they never liked you anyway"
could refer to the guy's friends/family not liking his girlfriend,
    "Tongue-tied and oh so squeamish
    You never fell in love
Did you get what you deserve?"
this could refer to the fact that the relationship was over before it got really serious,
    "And in my honest observation
    During this operation
Found a complication in your heart"
the persons heart could be their physical heart, but it could also be their loving heart, and they didn't or couldnt love the guy for some reason, also, the operation could be the relationship, people do always tend to over-analyze relationships.

but that's just what I think, and there's a good chance of me being wrong.

I think it is about the patient learning that he has cancer and how the patient copes with it at first.

Since this whole album is about the patient I think it is someone(dont know who)telling him right of the bat "your dead" and joking like saying "If life ain't just a joke
    Then why are we laughing?".

    Thats just what I think

Honestly, I don't think the song has to do with anyone literally dying. I believe it has to do with him telling someone who hurt him real bad, that they're dead to them---"have you heard the news that you're dead"
and when that person actually does die, he'll be wondering if they got what they deserve "and when you're heart stops beating I'll be wondering did you get what you deserve"

So yeah, just look past the lyrics.

This song (in my opinion) is looking at death like a game! like blood, bloods a little different but its to show people that death could somehow be a game

Uhhh... I don't know how to submit a correction to the lyrics, but maybe one of you do...
    this part---

So tired and oh so squeamish
    You never fell in love
Did you get what you deserve?
    The ending of your life

--- should start out tongue-tied and oh so squeamish, not so tired and oh so squeamish... If you don't believe this, go buy the album and look at the lyrics in writing...

This could be the moment that the patient dies. or some might agree that it is a dream that he's having where he truly believes he is dead. and he's getting this feeling like "is it really worth it?"

Akk! you peeps don't get it do you? The song doesn't go " DEAD.. Have you heard the news that your dead?" it's 'HAVE' in stead of DEAD. I'm sorry iv had a rough day.
