My Chemical Romance: Hang 'Em High Meaning
Hang 'Em High Lyrics
Ride into the sunset
Would I lie to you?
Well I've got something to say
Grab your six-gun from your back
Throttle the ignition
Would I die for you?
Well here's your answer in spades
Shotgun...

1TOP RATED
#1 top rated interpretation:I think this song is about two best friends who have been friends for years, but one day one of the friends girlfriend is cheating on him with the other friend. and then the actual boyfriend of the girl (friend 1) secretly finds out about the affair with his best friend (friend 2) one day.
"Wait until it fades to black
Ride into the sunset
Would I lie to you?
Well, I've got something to say " this is when the friend 1 assures friend 2 that he wouldnt lie to him in a test to see if friend 2 will tell him about the affair.
"Grab your six-gun from your back
Throttle the ignition
Would I die for you?
Well here's your answer in spades " that's when he goes to extra precautoins and tells friend 2 that he'd even die for him, in a hope that he will fess up now.
"Shotgun sinners
Wild eyed jokers
Got you in my sights
Gun it while I'm holding on" this is when friend 1 starts going crazy and thinking about killing his "best friend"
"After all is said and done
Climb out from the pine box
Well I'm asking you
'Cause she's got nothing to say" this is when he actually confront his bets friend and asks him, showing that earlier he asked his girlfriend and she lied saying it wasnt true.
"The angels just cut out her tongue
Call her black Mariah
Would I lie to you?
That girl's not right in the brain " this is when he lies to his friend and says that his girlfriend confessed about the affair,"That girl's not right in the brain" is showing friend 2's excuse saying that's she's crazy and she's making it up, which makes friend 1 even angrier since he's not telling the truth.
"Mass convulsions
Strike the choir
By the grace of God
Gun it while I'm holding on" this is when he finally loses it and one day gets a gun and sneaks up to his friends place where he knows that his friend and his girlfriend are having sex, and is going to shoot them. "the choir" is his friend and his girlfriend "choir" = the sound of them having sex. He thinks its gods wish that he shoots them since they have sinned.
"But don't stop if I fall
And don't look back
Oh baby don't stop
Bury me and fade to black" this is when he tries to reassure himself that he can actually do it, and not pull out. Trying to convince himself that its for the greater good.
"She won't stop me put it down
She won't stop me put it down
She won't stop me put it down
So get your gun and meet me by the door" this is when he's actually pointing the gun at them both and he starts to freak out, he doesn't want to shoot his girlfriend since he still loves her, but he doesn't want to back out either, so he tells his best friend to duel him for her, even though his friend doesn't want to, friend 2 realises that there's no convincing him that there's other ways of settling it.
"Don't stop if I fall
And don't look back
Oh baby don't stop
Bury me and fade to black" this shows when theyre both outside facing eachother, guns in their hands. The final show off to settle all matters.
how it ends is up to your imagination -
I like to think that the guy is about to kill a bunch of people for the deal he made with Satan to get his girl back--I think he also has a companion or something with him, I don't know--and he has second thoughts (I also like to think that the girl went to heaven and Satan lied when he said she went to hell), he sees her all over the place as signs that he shouldn't do it but he won't listen. "She won't stop me, put it down," means that he's ignoring everything that she's trying to tell him and he kills all those people.
-
I think it is the action scene of the story. I think what happens is the guy is waiting for it to get dark (cuz the cops are after him) and the girl is outside, he tells him to come with her, but he doesn't know she found someone else. Basically, the song ends with the guy going, grabbing his gun, and shooting her current lover.

I know what this song is about!
Its about the two criminal demolition lovers in a huge gunfight in a western restaurant bar. The two lovers are like Bonnie and Clyde characters. In the song the man lover tells his lover don't stop shooting at the people in the gunfight and if he dies, he tells her to continue to keep on shooting people in the restaurant and don't stop until everyone is dead and bury him when he dies. They tragically don't kill everyone in the restaurant. Sadly they die in the gunfight and the man goes to Hell and the Women goes to Heaven. The story continues on other MCR songs on Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge and I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought You My Love. I don't know why the lovers are in a gunfight, I think they are two wanted criminals and the people in the restaurant are drunk and crazy, the people in the gunfight are referred as "Wild Eyed Jokers" because they are the lovers demons and are the demolition lovers villains. -
I reckon this song is about a person that's been hurt by people they thought were their friends, they've been bottling all of their feelings up, people have been asking them if their ok, they say "Oh I'm fine," they people don't believe them, they say "would I lie to you?", but it gets to the point when they just can't hold anything in anymore and let it all in an ugly way. The people who hurt them suddenly want to help, but the person is isolating himself saying "don't stop to pick me up now that I'm down, people hurt me before, why bother caring now?", but they could also be saying to someone that's been there for them "don't let the people that hurt me hurt you, keep going, don't give up".
Perhaps the people that have hurt them have some kind of mental problem ("That girls not right in the brain.") -
There isn't one right answer, but to me this sounds like a song about someone who is seriously fucked up. Depressed, insane, drunk and probably stoned. It also sounds like the person is suicidal. "She won't stop me, put it down, so get your gun and met me by the door". They feel like their life is coming to an end and they don't want/think anyone will care. That's what I think.

I think its a story about a boy and a girl in love who fight evil, she rides the bike while he holds on and shoots all the evil demons and he basically telling her don't stop if I fall carry on cause I'm done for get out while you still can

Okay. In the video, this whole thing is a big shootout. I beleive that all this is metaphoric for love. Ever heard the phrase "Love is a battleground". It symbolizes a fight between two lovers. One doesn't think the other loves them, so they ask them to prove it. This song is the response. The other person is saying "I don't care what happens to me as long as you're okay." You can interpret this a bit further by the end of the video, where the girl comes back after she had supposedly run away. This could mean that they settle their argument in the end. She believes his response and responds by loving him back.
I could be wrong, but Im pretty sure that's right.

It's about the battles between good and bad love, either way it kills.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
It really means that he is done and he is sock of this relationship so he feels he should leave and is going through so much he might as well as die.
-
I think it's about a showdown in the desert with the good guys and the bad guys. Anything else, like the little romantic bits, are just adding to the epic-western showdown style story.
-
It means, don't wait up for me, it's too late, I'm finished. "Don't stop if I fall and don't look back, oh baby don't stop! Bury me and fade to black." It means that 'Oh, you didn't care about me now, and now that I'm about to leave, too late.' It's too late to save me now. Get it? Just forget about me, and go on with your life. And it also means, you've been the one killing me on the inside, mentally, so why not just end it all and kill me on the outside, physically? And, 'you can't stop me now. No one can.' "She won't stop me, put it down. So get your gun and meet me by the door." Which just means, I'm sick of your crap, I'm finished, I'm leaving.
The end. =]
Thanks. -
Well, I'm not quite sure. I don't think its talking about his lover because in the concept his lover didn't know he was a killer so maybe it was one of his friends.
-
A girl doesn't belive her boyfriend loves her so she keeps asking him if he would die and lie to her, they are trying to kill the bad guys together and is telling her if he dies to carry on, and keep going on with her life.
