My Chemical Romance: It's Not a Fashion Statement, It's a Death Meaning
It's Not a Fashion Statement, It's a Death Lyrics
Or what I'll do to you
You get what everyone else gets
You get a lifetime
Do you remember back then when we met?
You told me this gets harder
Well you did
Been holding on forever
Promise me that when I'm...

I think this is about this guy has fallen for a girl aNd she has hurt him so much that he spirals into a dead like state and now that he has come out of that depression he is showing her that he didn't need her and that is will avenge his former life by hurting her back and that now that his life has changed she can't hide from him anymore and he won't forget what she did. When he sees her again he si falling for her again and saying to her that he won't forget what she did but he doesn't want to be afraid to try again.
-
I think that this song is about someone who killed him and now he is coming back from the dead to take him back to hell with him or wherever he was. and that for his revenge he's taking away his life like they did to him (hence: I'm coming back from the dead, and I'll take you home with me, I'm taking back the life you stole)
-
This is what I think it means: "for what you did to me, what I'll do to you, you'll get what everyone else gets, you'll get a lifetime" I think its saying he was killed and now he is coming back from the dead to kill the person and take him straight to hell with him (hence, I'm taking back the life you stole)

My mom said this is a murder-suicide song because of
"I'm coming back from the dead
and I'll take you home with me
I'm taking back the life you stole"
And her theory is also supported by "Just you and I/your starless eyes remain" because it sounds like she is dead, hence the starless eyes.
When I heard it, I thought it was about someone saying "Yeah, you tried to mess me up and you thought I wouldn't make it, but look at me now."
But lately, when I hear, "I've lost my fear of falling/I will be with you." I almost think of them going to hell together? Sort of an excessively symbolic song.
I like this song because it's not really angry as much as it is getting some much-needed revenge. Is it only coincidental that the album title is "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" and the revengeful character is singing "Hip hip hooray for me"? -
It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Deathwish is like a time line. It explains the guy and girl's relationship since when they met, to when they were separated, to when they'll meet again, to when they'll be apart again.
It kind of says that he was betrayed by her (or him, depending on how you look at it,) and was killed, (emotionally and/or physically.) So now he's coming back from "the dead" to seek his revenge; to take the girl (or friend) back with him, to wherever he just was. -
In my opinion this song is about two friends, one of which (the "I")has been stabbed in the back. "But would you kill me in my sleep?". This betrayal caused the first person a lot of pain and they possibly withdrew(?) "This hole you put me in". But now the person is back up and ready to avenge all the wrongs that have been done to him. "wasn't deep enough and I'm coming out right now." There are definitely themes of anger and revenge in this song but also, towards the end, some ones that seem more regretful. "We never got that far", as if the person forgives the other person in the end saying, "I will be with you".

I'm younger so I might not understand stuff I think I do:
i think when he says "i've lost my fear of falling"it means that he's fallen in love with a girl and he's not afraid of it anymore.
i also think that when he says that she's inflicted temporary wounds it means that she's hurt him emotionally rather than physically.
"you talk to me
but would you kill me in my sleep" means to me that he loves her and she doesn't feel the same so now he doesn't trust her with his life -
ok well this song is one of their best it pertains to a certain situation that I've had
anyways....
i think it's about a guy who well was in love with a girl
who changed his life for the better but never actually told her how he felt for her...and after she breaks his heart possibly by going with another guy he will always remember what she did for him and will not forget her
may not be accurate but its what it means to me -
I think this song pretty much sums up the point of the album, kind of like "Welcome to the Black Parade," in a way. The song's main concept is revenge, and it coincides with the actual couple's relationship, why they're going through so much to be together.
For what you did to me, and what I'll do to you
You get, what everyone else gets
you get a lifetime
^ as an example of the 'revenge concept'
the entire ending of the song could be referring to the relationship of the demolition lovers, the fact that they'd do anything to be together makes the man do what he has to, even if they never do end up together. -
Alright. So this song is about this girl that he spent so much time on, who just ended up breaking his heart in the end. He's saying that he didn't want it to end the way it did and that they should still be together. This girl changed his life so significantly that he will remember her forever.
