My Chemical Romance: Thank You For The Venom Meaning
Song Released: 2004
Thank You For The Venom Lyrics
And you never had a chance
Love it or leave it
You can't understand
A pretty face but you do so carry on, and on, and on
I wouldn't front the scene if you paid me
I'm just the way that the doctor...
-
"Sister, I'm not much a poet but a criminal"
This song is a conversation between a nun and a murderer or some kind of criminal. The murderer is proud of what he does ("I wear this on my sleeve") The nun attempts to convert him but the murderer refuses. A small part of him wants to believe in God ( Just give me what I need, give me a reason to believe). The conversation ends with the nun failing to convert him. -
Okay, this song means that since I've gone through all I've gone through and no one saved me then, no one can save me now. It means, 'You don't understand me, and you never will! Don't tell me who I am. I know who I am. This is how I was made.' and 'Stop trying to convince me to believe you! You're preaching to nobody. Just shut up and go away' and also, "Now, I'm done with all of this. You kill me on the inside, mentally, so why not kill me on the outside, physically?' " Love it, or leave it, you can't understand
A pretty face, but you do so carry on,
and on,
and on "
"I'm just the way that the doctor made me"
"You'll never make me leave
I wear this on my sleeve
Give me a reason to believe "
"So give me all you poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
And make me ill
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will"
"Preach all you want, but who's gonna save me?
I keep a gun on the book that you gave me, hallelujah, lock and load
Black is the kiss, the touch of the serpeant sun
Beneath the mark of the scar that makes you run"
Thanks. -
This song is just about people who come to you and give you information about any kind of god when you want them to leave you alone. "Give me a reason to believe" and "Preach all you want but who's gonna save me?"
