Panic! At The Disco: King Of The Clouds Meaning
Song Released: 2018
King Of The Clouds Lyrics
For these ghosts that I chase
With these dreams, I inflate, painted skies in my brain
Every day, I'm Carl Sagan in space
To escape this old world, this old world
Some days I lie wide awake 'til the sun...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think it's about ambition. Like wanting to get to the top so bad. In my opinion the words king of the clouds mean you wanna climb higher than anyone else in the world exceed expectations. And the words "some days I lie awake till the sun hits my face and I fade elevate from the earth" is like when someone is restless all through night thinking if how far they can go in their future.and elevate from the earth is the excited feeling you get just thinking about your ambitions/dreams. And the lyrics "I don't trust anything or anyone below the sun I don't feel anything at all" mean you have major trust issues with people and don't open up. I dono I just think it's about how vast the word is and you wanna see it all but you can't because your limited to earth and it fustrates you. That's how I feel about the song anyways. Even if Brendon was high I relate to it on a deep level.I dono I'm weird.

I think it’s about letting go of everything terrible in the work and focusing more on yourself rather than please anyone. The part “I don’t trust anything or anyone below the sun” kind of shows how humans are liars and no matter how much we try we can’t trust anyone because of the lies we face everyday. Human integrity has become so rare that Brendon probably wanted to fly away when he was high. Drunk (or high) words are sober thoughts.

About being free and not caring about anything or anyone anymore. Maybe about depression where they don’t feel like they belong on earth and would like to say goodbye to the world.
-
Not believing in anyone and being free from the expectations of the world.

In an interview, Brendon urie was talking about king of the clouds and he was talking about the night it was written. He said he was so high that he didn't realise that his friends where writing down what he was saying about inter-dimensional space travel and parallel universes. Later that week, his friends came round with lyrics from what Brendon was saying and it became a song
