Mercenary Lyrics

Just a dime store poet
Keeping pace, talking his face, blue
Two dollar store tramps
To get a glance, a new chance at you

Walk past the dance floor
That’s always been a dear friend of mine
Cut calls and concubines
Dancing in four, four...

"Just a dime store poet,Keeping pace, talking his face, blue, Two dollar store tramps,To get a glance, a new chance at you"
He's really poor, trying to convince himself why he and his love should be together. But something happens, he gets rich and tries to catch a glance of her that makes him hate her, trying to see her in a new, darker light.
"Walk past the dance floor, That’s always been a dear friend of mine, Cuckholds and concubines, Dancing in four, four time"
I think of a masquerade ball at this part. Playing charades and hiding his identity has always been his forte. He meets corrupted people and ultimately his many mistresses. Because he is famous and powerful, he has to put on that face. So, he hides this lusting, needing and depressed person and dances around him ("dancing in four, four time").
"'Hey mister' the bellman says 'I can only recall and spend some time' I said
So he replies 'Then how do you manage'
I dodge the blast, and apologize for collateral damage."
Someone though, finds out about his other side, and he attemts to sidetrack that other person and escape. But the person won't give up and keeps hounding him. So, in order to keep him quiet, he needs to get rid of him, probably ruining his reputation and hurting people around him ("I dodge the blast and apologize for collateral damage")
"In love, I’ve always been a mercenary,But I never leave my post when the cash runs out,I want to make you quiver,Make your backbone shiver,Hey kid, take the stage and deliver"
In love, he was always been the peson only there for something. But, when he stopped gaining things from his love, he stayed because he was amused and entertained by his lover's passion and he liked the sex. He leaves, giving her to someone else ("Hey kid, take the stage and deliver").
"“How does it feel to stand on the very stones that ran with your parent’s blood?
Do you feel sad? Full of rage? Or does that outfit help you bury your feelings?
I hate to hear your true self
You’re truly an extraordinary specimen; I look forward to breaking you'”
Here we get to the Batman part, but not necessarily. He comes back and remembers all his sins and his love. The parent's blood may be metaphorically speaking about their dissapointment and how he never said sorry before their deaths. He feels guilty and full of rage, so once again he puts on this mask, acting carefree and happy. But inside, he's breaking and his inside voice is telling him that sooner or later, everyone will find out...

I think that's what it means, but I might looking into it too deeply, as I am known to do :)

Otra cosa, cuando dice 'Hey kid, take the stage and deliver' se refiere a Robin. These tramps are trying to peek under Bateman mask
Walk past the dance floorThat’s always been a dear friend of mine Cut calls and concubines Dancing in four, four time
Allusion to cat womam and him
Hey mister the bell man says I can only recall and spend some time I said so he replies in how do you manage I dodge the blast and apologize for collateral damage
Barman can be somewhat destructive whilst dodging bellies

I think it's about a Mercenary that treason-ed, and lost everything. "And how do you manage?" "I dodge the blast and apologize for collateral damage" Meaning, He dodges the bullets and is sorry for the people he killed. :P

This song is on the Batman Arkham City Soundtrack and it refers to Batman
“How does it feel to stand on the very stones that ran with your parent’s blood?
Do you feel sad? Full of rage? Or does that outfit help you bury your feelings?
I hate to hear your true self
You’re truly an extraordinary specimen; I look forward to breaking you”

As I can't remember who said this, but one of the villians said this and it says it in the trailer.

The ' In love i've always been a mercenary' refers to Batman and Catwoman.

I personally don't understand the other lyrics to the song, but I find that it fits in well, its catchy and its one of my favourite songs from Panic At The Disco, and also Batman Arkham City is a good name. It also has Stana Katic in it, aswell as a kick ass soundtrack.
If you love Batman or video games, I suggest you get this game.
