Solsbury Hill Lyrics
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still

#1 top rated interpretation:I believe it means for us to prepare to leave this earthly life for a spiritual life. We are to take with us what we've learned and be ready to be fulfilled in ways we never thought possible. Our real home.
-
I wonder if it could mean the realization that we don’t “have to” continue doing what people expect of us, and can choose to claim our freedom (or at least choose that as a mental state within our physical constraints).
-
I think it's about getting rid of a controlling entourage, who are only after money, and material things and appearances, in order to find something real of a higher order.
-
I think it's about being saved from a cult and should be the theme song for the Trumpista's. You can keep my things they've come to take me home means that the Trumpista has come to his senses as his family saves him from impending doom.

"It is about being prepared to lose what you have for what you might get... It's about letting go." - Peter Gabriel
There is never one meaning to any given piece of literature. That's the beauty of it. -
This is a song about his experiences, desires and decisions in leaving Genesis. It’s about leaving things behind, taking risks and looking forward to new horizons but centrally based on leaving the band.

This is for Quip...
Solsbury Hill is a place in Somerset, a small hill which was the location of an Iron Age fort. Stonehenge is on Salisbury Plain...a plateau...FLAT!
Keep taking the tablets Quip... -
1st think it is Salisbury hill, the place of Stonehenge. Then, the average person in the time of the 2nd enlightenment (1967-75), had experiences of such a nature that Peter describes. It is a poem of a mystical, cosmic experience. And he is alone on Salisbury hill, and all it’s attendant mysteries. We were going home, in the broadest sense.

It's about letting go.
Granting yourself the courage to leave what you've built behind, in exchange for something new. The space between the trapeze bars can look endless, trapping us in a place we no longer belong. -
I just think the song is awesome. And shows the the talent of Peter gabriel I could listen to that song 24-7 to me it shows very strong personal strength!!
