Red Hot Chili Peppers: Breaking The Girl Meaning
Song Released: 1992
Breaking The Girl Lyrics
Cut from the know
Rarely do friends
Come and then go
She was a girl
Soft but estranged
We were the two
Our lives rearranged
Feeling so good that day
A feeling of love that day
Chorus:
Twisting and turning
Your feelings...

#1 top rated interpretation:This is a song about Anthony's sister. I heard on an interview. And her break-up with a boyfriend. And this is HIS feelings about the situation.
"Raised by my dad and the girl of the day" (whatever girl he was with)
"She was the girl left all alone" (his sister)
"I will never know why the twilight of love had arrived" (just the natural progression of young love)
"Twisting and turning your feelings are burning you're breaking the girl" (explainable)
"She meant you no harm" and
"He loves no one else" (I think just explains the end of yound relationships that fall apart for no reason but still hurt.
Anthony was experiencing the pain his sister was living after this break-up, probably her first. -
He loved the girl...soft but ESTRANGED. Loving her was breaking her as he was his fathers child. Twisting and turning your feelings are burning...his own mental struggles. She meant you know harm...she really loved him but he just wasnt emotionally available. Basically two broken people in love. He must "sever" aka break up with her because he is breaking her with his own insecurities.

I read the meaning in Kiedis's authobiography Scar Tissue: He's telling about the lovestory with his girlfriend Carmen. Their relationship was insane at the point she gone "mad" for jealousy and sometimes she became violent.
"twisting and turning, your feelings are burning" : the feels love for Carmen and a lot of passion.
He know that his not a loyal man ("raise by my dad, girl of the day") and he knows that with his behavoir he's ruin Carmen's mind:
"she meant you no warm, think you're so clever, but now you must sever, you're breaking the girl"
He's aware that for both is better to end the relationship:
"I don't know what, when or why the twilight of love has arrived" -
Do great artists know how to spell? I'm pretty sure it's THEIR meanings. :) And this song sounds like crazy, naiive, and young love at first. Then the dude is drowning in his own tears and there's gasoline in the water so he burns and stuff... Painfully crying because the girl just thought it wasn't working out. :)

Actually acorrding to scartissye it bluntly states that its about his love and beakup with carmen and the lifestyle he has that he grew into
raised by my dad
girl of the day (a different girl every day lifestyle)
she was the girl left alone feeling the need to make me her home (she wanted desperatly to live with him but he was in a different stage in his life
and she was about to slit his wrists for him ... -
