Adding on with what I said above, The red star and the black fist is the soviet symbol for communism as the shirt was bought in Amsterdam. AK also said that when making their debut the chili peppers just wanted to "buckle down" and finish the album. This can add a second meaning to the song. He also doesn't want any pussy music executives telling him how to play his music. -
Flea gave Anthony a shirt in the 80s which is the lyrical inspiration for Buckle Down. The shirt has a red star and a black fist, hence the lyrics "Red star, Black fist."
