Red Hot Chili Peppers: Californication Meaning
Song Released: 2000
Californication Lyrics
Try to steal your mind's elation
Little girls from Sweden
Dream of silver screen quotations
And if you want these kind of dreams
It's Californication
It's the edge of the world
And all of western...

I agree. Not only on the interpretation, but with what the song is actually saying. California seems and sounds like a great place-until you go there. I was born in and lived in CA Near L.A. for the better part of my life. I will always see it as home, but it has become a horrible place to live. Heartbreaking, really.

Californication is a play on the words "California" and "fornication". The song is talking about how people are looking up to California and the major state, and the song is based on a guy from California talking about how California isn't all that people think it is (i.e. "the sun may rise in the east atleast its settled in a finer location") and how Hollywood is making California seem wonderful.
