Nightswimming Lyrics
-
By far, one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. This song is about reflecting back to days of innocence ("every streetlight reveals a picture and a verse") and growing up but also about perhaps hidden secrets. I believe that maybe this is about knowing that you are gay and no one else knowing it at the time. "The recklessness of water. They cannot see me naked". Stipe didn't come out officially until after this album although he stated that everyone should have known this for years since he wears skirts on stage and wears eyeliner.
