Ruth B: Lost Boy Meaning
Song Released: 2016
Lost Boy Lyrics
There was a time when I was alone
Nowhere to go and no place to call home
My only friend was the man in the moon
And even sometimes he would go away, too
[Verse 1]
Then one night, as I closed my eyes,
I saw a shadow flying...
-
Peter pan is a Angel and the lost boy is someone who committed suicide captain book is the devil and never land is heaven

Lost boy is a song about drugs. Captain Hook is most likely the police, while Neverland is the feeling of being high or drunk. The song tells about a “lost boy” who doesn’t know what to do with their life. The “lost boy” turns to drugs to escape their existence. Peter Pan is probably the person who introduced them to drugs. The song states that it’s their “perfect story book” meaning they enjoy the feeling of being high/drunk. While the song can be interpreted as just a song about the story “Peter Pan”, the underlying meaning most likely revolves around drug use.

I think this song was about a runaway orphaned child who was living on the streets, cold, hungry, and alone. I interpret this from the intro, 'There was a time, When I was alone, Nowhere to go, And no place to call home,' and as for, 'My only friend was the Man in the Moon, but even sometimes he would go away too,' was the child's hope/imagination. Maybe the child was hoping/imagining his/her family was still out there and waiting for him/her to come home. and I think Peter Pan is an angel that came to bring the child to Heaven [Neverland] and the Lost Boys are other children that had died. I find this song very powerful, and I hope you do too.

My daughter is transgender, I just found out this past month. When I heard this song I cried. It is beautifully written.

As I see it neverland is heaven that's why the kids never grow old, and everything is happy. Peter pan I see as "God" or whatever you what to believe. So in other words he killed himself and has now been taken to heaven or he is fighting cancer or any other sickness and God has taken him to heaven
-
I interpret this song as someone's escape from depression or a stressful time. For example, a young girl who's run away from an abusive home comes up with or reads of an place where she escaped from her troubles by imagining a world without it all. She uses the term "I am a Lost Boy" not to be gay but as a tell for the group she imagines herself in - Or as a title, not a gender. She imagines herself in a group that understands what she's been through and they all play and have adventures to help them escape from that abuse.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Peter Pan= mental illness
Captain Hook= therapist/ family
Never land=afterlife
Lost boys=other people who have committed suicide
Peter Pan (mental illness) convinces you to come to neverland (commit suicide) and stay away from Captain Hook (people trying to keep you alive). Twisted view considering most people look at Peter as good and Captain Hook as bad. Probably looking way into it But that just my thoughts and how I feel about the song. Such a beautiful song -
In Neverland, no one grows up. In the music video a second hand ticks along with the song. At one point near the end the second hand stalls. Sometimes a clock or watch stopping is used to symbolize someone dying for example, in the song "My Grandfather Clock", where an old man's grandfather clock stops when he dies.
I thought that since the theme was Neverland, where no one becomes an adult, the song was about a boy who had died and thus would never grow up. The boy wasn't loved for some reason and was lost in life, so associated his situation with a story he loves and wishes were real, Peter Pan.
When the boy died, Peter Pan came to take him to Neverland, or what he wants heaven to be like. -
I think its about someone who is in a dark place, and is referring to neverland as death, and that death is the only option they can think of that will make things better

To me this song is about an abused or bullied person who's given up and went to "Neverland"
-
I think this song is about finding friendship when you least expect it. Friends can help you escape your troubles for a little while, "away from all of reality," as she puts it. Even when you think you are alone, there is always someone to help you however they can.
-
I think it is about a person who is very lonely and sad in her life for a long time. She finally found someone who believed in her and gave her happiness she never had.

My young nephew just passed from cancer. This song reminds me of his battle. Being alone and no where to go to escape it. Peter Pan is God and Neverland is heaven. It is a beautiful story about God taking him away to his beautiful destiny to run and play in heaven. The symbolism is strong throughout even pixie dust as a last rite. I can only hope his passing was as beautiful and peaceful as it is portrayed in this beautiful song.
