Simon & Garfunkel: Fakin' It Meaning
Fakin' It Lyrics
If she stays, she stays here
The girl does what she wants to do
She knows what she wants to do
And I know I’m fakin’ it
I’m not really makin’ it
I’m such a dubious soul
And a walk in the garden
Wears me...

Though i have read that this alludes to a personal revelation Paul Simon had of literally descending from a ‘tailor’, there may be a greater message. Often, an artists work has meaning well beyond what they may think!
‘Fakin’ It’! Who hasn’t at one time or another played a superficial part to relate to others? We all want to fit in, be liked,
loved! We pretend to be what we perceive others would accept so we are
accepted.
The moment of realization that we are ‘fakin’ it’ can be despairing. It’s not really who we are.
So who are we?
This is where the answer takes a big leap! A leap of Faith.
We are THE Tailor’s Face and Hands!
It’s time to shake fakin’ It!
John 1:23
