Sixx:A.M.: Skin Meaning
Song Released: 2012
Skin Lyrics
What you wish you looked like
Maybe then they just might feel an ounce of your pain
Come into focus
Step out of the shadows
It's a losing battle
There's no need to be ashamed
Cause they don't even know you
All...

I heard that the reason why he wrote this song was because he saw a girl who lost her legs. I think it is just of the fact, you are you. Why should someone change that? Everyone.. is different. Be who you are!

I think this song is about loving and accepting yourself despite your imperfections. It's about not caring what others think cause they don't know the real you. The outside is just "skin" It's what's on the inside that shows who you truly are. You can be the most beautiful person on the outside and still have an ugly heart.

This song, to me, is about emotional pain, self harm, addiction, low self esteem, and all the other bullshit that infects my life. that's the beauty of this song, there is no one meaning that is correct. It's a catch all song meaning whatever you need it to mean.

This song could have many possible interpretations. When I first heard it, I knew right off the bat it was about self harm. The line "paint yourself a picture of what you wish you looked like, maybe then they just might feel an ounce of your pain" I believe, has it do with eating disorders and how people who suffer from that, may portray a horribly underweight body type as perfect, and 'normal' people wouldn't find that okay. The next line; "come into focus, step out of the shadows. It's a loosing battle, there's no need to be ashamed" has to do with the scars that these poor people would be baring. And then "they don't even know you, all they see is scars; they don't see the angel living in your heart". This one for me, was the dead giveaway. What they mean by this, is that people will judge you by the outside, but they really don't know how lovely of a person you are in the heart, therefore you should not be discouraged when people who don't know you, look down on you for your appearance, in the case; your skin.
