#1 top rated interpretation:it is about kids living in a bad nieghborhood annd they are pulling their first hiest on an ice cream man and when one cuts the ice cream mans hand off he is full of guilt then years later they do the same but for money and the one who chopped off the ice cream mans hand is reminded bye his friends when theyre talking and he gives his share to the ice cream man showing one who is bad can be good
-
This is probaly a interpretation of kids in a bad neighborhood pulling off hiests of ice cream trucks.
-
Wrong! They aren't doing the same for the money, they are doing cop stuff and the guy that cut off the ice cream man's hand took some of the money and gave it to him to show his sympathy
-
I'm totally with you, this is song is a Hook tribute! If you watch the videoclip, the Ice cream seller has a Hook for a hand ;)

*For those that have watched Peter Pan or Hook*
Honestly, lyric wise, I think that this is a clever tribute to Peter Pan. "Shout to all my lost boys" "Bangarang" (Hook) "We rowdy" and then the end, "They say I lost my marbles."
For those who've watched the movie Hook, (an older movie, Robin Williams plays an older version of Peter Pan who has moved to London, been adopted by Wendy's grandmother, and forgotten about Neverland completely)you know that the term Bangarang is the Lost Boy's chant. (Google it) Then Toodles, another character in the movie had "Lost His Marbles" and he was a lost boy with Peter at one point in time, too.
So that's my take on the lyrics. Haven't seen the video yet. -
A description of the music video isn't really much of an interpretation, is it? I think the song is in a way celebrating the idea of street smarts and people fending for themselves. That's evident in the video but there's no way you can think the elaborate story you just told with roughly ten words in the song..
