Slipknot: The Negative One Meaning
The Negative One Lyrics
I'm on a burn, so I better tell you everything
The competition, the superstition
Nevermind 'cause you're never gonna give in
If acquired and that's how you like it
The same trouble in a different...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think this song is satire against the idea of God and the devil. "Creation (your failure)" and the part saying everything is a mess just like you wanted is basically saying fuck you to both God and the devil because there are only two equally dumb choices: a God who is irrational and sick in the head with self importance and the negative one (the devil). In other words: they both suck.

This song is about Corey's struggle with himself and has nothing to with Joey. After Paul's death, he put his life in perspective and realized how much he was taking for granted. He is himself AND the negative one. He is making the choice to be the better version of himself and not the negative one. He's basically looking in a mirror and saying this to himself.

There some good interpretations on here, but really look for interviews with Corey and you will eventually find the one about this. It is totally completely about Joey.
Joey did not want to continue without Paul mostly because of guilt.
"Your choices are (to the rest of the band) to end it with the Negative One (Joey) and ME (Corey)
"you had to be set free" (Joey, fired). Find the interview. If I can find it again, I will gladly post the link. But the negative one is Joey Jordison and ME is Corey Taylor. -
he's singing about 2 persons. "The Lord of Lies"- So it's the Devil i think and "The Morning Star"- that's God. And their choices are the negative of his own and He own. So He's like them both in this song.

''The Negative One'' had and has been dividing God's creation and HIS Family of Men from the beginning of time. Ever since the days of the written BIBLE, The Negative One who sadly and unfortunately became to be known as a Old Jew. ''The Scapegoat'' individual that always had his own unique and Strong Will to artificially create and worship his own likes and dreams. Be ''The UNKNOWN GOD'' of his ideas or whatever. That wasn't known to the gentle Pagans of the time, until many years later when JESUS revealed Himself to them. Before that, compared to the rest of the world for the most part, naturally worshipped many gods of ''Family Ancestors'' that spread with The Tribes throughout the world with spiritual wealth and Their gold. That ''The Negative One'' as a known Jew now, really wanted this gold, but not to be part of ''Their Kind'' and worship with, but instead wanted to destroy Their strong roots of Their ''Family gods'' that got started a long time ago with the gentile-pagan people. This is one reason I think The One God theory plan by The Negative One was started to destroy these ''Family Ancestoral gods'' and divide the people forever more control with The One God idea. All for gaining the power and wealth of Their gold and the Mind of the people to weaken the Families throughout the world with this conjured up idea. As like The One World Global Order of how it is wanted to be used today with ''The Negative One''
