System of a Down: Toxicity Meaning
Song Released: 2002
Toxicity Lyrics
Looking at life through the eyes of a tire hub
Eating seeds as a pastime activity
The toxicity of our city, of our city
New! What do you own the world?
How do you own disorder? Disorder!
No! Somewhere...

I think this song is about man and his effect on the world
we're very closed minded (looking at life through the eyes of a tire hub)
we are also taking over the world rather than trying to live at peace with nature (now what do you own the world how do you own disorder)
we are not only trying to run the world but also ruining it (more wood for their fires) -
I don't think this is the interpretation because all your interpretations sound pretty accurate, but I read somewhere (I think it was on youtube) that the disorder thing is about ADD. The person who said that said they heard Daron say it on one of their live performances on tv. Though, I'm not sure what to believe :s

ok I don't know the interpretation but I must correct the first entry on lyrics. Its "conversion software version 7.0 looking at life through the eyes of a >tire hub<" I even looked it up on there website.

I'll be honest-I don't have much on this track other than I always thought that the album name was supposed to be Ironic seeing as many of the songs in the Toxicity album were anti-government: a very Republican idea that goes against what traditional heavy metal and especially punk bands did in the 1980's. But I always thought that Toxicity was actually a shorter way of saying Toxic City-the city being established Capitalism-thus condemning the New World Order of Globalized Capitalism, or, in other terms, America trying to tell every other country that Capitalism Pwns all just to keep the money in their pockets. Thus, having a title track contrary to the entire album creates an extremely ironic feel to the album itself-although Prison Song and Forest can't be represented as Pro-Republican, it can neither be interpreted as Anti-Capitalist either.
I'm probably wrong about this so don't bash me for it douchebags. All I know is I love playing this song live. -

Actually I think the line "Somewhere between the sacred silence and sleep" Sacred silence meaning before you are born, in your mothers womb and sleep, your death...

To the second commentor...Finally, someone mentioned the nwo. I thought I was the only one. Disorder, disorder, disorder inbetween the sacred silence and sleep. We're almost there. Hang on kids, it's gonna be a bumpy ride to 2012 (or whenever I guess).

Looking at life through the eyes of a tired hub
there are cameras everywhere. They are watching us. The "hub" is the camera. Tired eyes means they're always on...Always watching.
Eating seeds as a pastime activity.
The people in charge of the cameras sit behind the screens and watch us. They eat seeds to pass time as they watch us.
Now, what do you own the world?
You = government
somewhere, between the sacred silence and sleep
disorder, disorder, disorder
sacred silence = praying time; sleep = sleep. Between sacred silence and sleep is that time when we do the stuff we do in the day, and all that exists in those times is disorder. -
I agree with the first two entries, system of a down like to voice there opinions on politics in their songs and I think that what they are saying is true. I think that "caught in the headlights of a truck" means that we are like a deer caught in the headlights of a truck because we let this go on n simply try to ignore it n go on with our lives n when we do find something out that we should have been expecting we act like a deer caught in the headlights of a truck because we've blocked out all the bad things that are going on
