Tame Impala: Let It Happen Meaning
Let It Happen Lyrics
But not really as loud as the voice saying
Let it happen, let it happen (It's gonna feel so good)
Just let it happen, let it happen
All this running around
Trying to cover my shadow
An ocean growing...

Is this song about transformation or bargaining? The breakdown of a relationship? To me it sounds like KP became distant/sick of something/someone he loved and wanted to distance himself from completely, like ending a failing relationship or kicking a drug habit.
The lyrics at 2:48 are, according to many websites:
I will not vanish and you will not scare me
Try to get through it, try to bounce to it
All the while thinking I might as well do it
They be lovin' someone and I'm not that stupid
Take the next ticket to take the next train
Why would I do it? And you wanna think that
To me, it sounds like (caps are my changes):
I will not vanish and you will not scare me
Try to get through it, try to bounce to it
YOU ARE NOT thinking that I WILL NOT DO IT (being goaded into leaving)
EVERYONE'S ASSUMING THAT I'M NOT STUPID (desperation to clutch to it despite everyone thinking he'd be better without it)
Take the next ticket to take the next train
(telling himself to get out of there, as an inner voice?)
Why would I do it? And you wanna think that
I think this song is about wanted to change but being in denial about whether to actually go through with it. Sometimes it is harder to walk away than remain in the same place.
