The Devil Wears Prada: Constance Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Constance Lyrics

I think this song is 1) alluding to the fact that we have become so dependent on others to make us happy, that we've completely abandoned the whole message of Christianity that says we need to have a peace in ourselves and God to feel fulfilled- not others. It's saying that when we're alone, we have all these wishful thoughts of instances where we're not alone...which pretty much does nothing for us but confuse us & make us the farthest thing from content.
2)
What has exhaustion brought me?
Unvisited, but still too busy to close my eyes. (to close my eyes)
^This proves my analyzation. Exhaustion in finding someone so we're not alone and trying to fight God's plan for us brings us "unvisited", meaning having no one we desire or a plan we desire, yet we still persist and exhaust ourselves and keep our eyes open to sin (rather than closed). We constantly endure guilt from mortal sins that we fail to close our eyes to, which brings up the idea of the Roman Catholic belief in purgatories that was mentioned in this song. It's a pattern long endured by society and he's trying to say that he wants to defeat the cycle and start one void of constant sin.
