Obviously JIM MORRISON[r.i.p] being within THE DOORS Band had a high respect and love for birds of prey, such as Eagles,HaWKS,Ravens,Owls, Raptors and Vultures. Eventhough, all the while knowing that He himself who was known as ''THE LIZARD KING'' of snakes was psychologically and sometimes physically vulnerable, especially when 'getting into' the spirit of His alter-ego King Snake persona. Who was naturally at the mercy of the birds of prey when being out in the open that would scoop up and kill lizard snakes as one of their favorite menus. Symbolically and subconsciously I think Jim Morrison might have been asking the ''Bird Of Prey'' in high respect AS the Higher Power above Him that IF He would die, He would be in need of His love to be resurrected and taken away to a heavenly place or palace by the 'Bird of Prey'. In that this song could also have been imagined and done with respect for mythological birds. FORINSTANCE when thought in the spirit of the old Indian Mythology Legends, where god-birds like 'Jatayu' used to save and protect Kings and Princesses in Their Heavenly palaces.
