Hello I Love You Lyrics

Hello, I love you
Won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you
Let me jump in your game
Hello, I love you
Won't you tell me your name?
Hello, I love you
Let me jump in your game

She's walking down the street
Blind to every eye she...

Carls is correct! I heard Ray Manzarek relay the same story not to long ago here in Los Angeles on KRTH's Gary Bryan show. The song was written about a beatiful Black girl. If I hadn't heard his explanation, "do you hope to pluck this dusky jewel" would have remained an over 40 year mystery.
I was however VERY disappointed when Gary Bryan played the song the next day on his show and only mentioned that it was written about a "girl on the beach." He chose to not mention that she was Black and the meaning of the "dusky jewel" line. I'm 58 and I feel that it's the duty of we "aging rockers" to pass the info on to "the kids"

This song was written after Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek were at a beach in California and Morrison saw an attractive black girl. He wanted to go over to her, but Manzarek warned against it as the girl was very young. Morrison wrote the song that night, referring to the girl as a 'dusky jewel.'

It definitely was about a black girl on the beach. It is explained in the book 'No one here gets out alive'.

Statue of Liberty? Vietnam war? The song isn't about that at all. I don't how anyone could get that from the lyrics.

No...No... Jim was singing about the famous Statue of Liberty. He needed his faith again .... The Nam war was the issue ....... Think hard how Jimmy thought .....

It's about a girl he saw on the beach. The most interesting thing about this song is the close similarity to The Kink's 'All Day And All Of The Night', which had been released in 1964.

She is walking down the street, blind to ever eye she meets.
This is much deeper than a black chick. This is the chick, mother Earth. The universe, the female that is all truth and beauty dancing on a pin. The goddess of light. Sidewalk crouches at her feet. I'm a dog that begs for SOMETHING SWEET. I'll Trade you anything for everything.
