The Fray: Heaven Forbid Meaning
Heaven Forbid Lyrics
now that you understand there's no one around
Take a breath, just take a seat
you're falling apart and tearing at the seams
Heaven forbid you end up alone, you don't know why
Hold on tight, wait for tomorrow,...
-
I think it’s about someone who isn’t happy and they care more about finding a happiness they once had more than anything and anyone else
-
Everyone has their own personal interpretation of these song lyrics.
I take it as one person battling an addiction whether it's drugs or alcohol they have been in denial and perhaps losing everything and a loved one or friend telling them to hang on but it's ultimately up to that person. -
Whenever I hear this song I think of a person who has gone through a great deal of pain and knows they need to make a change but they are terrified of making the change because the only thing worse then the life they are leading now is going into the unknown (maybe everything gets better or maybe it gets worse; how can we ever know)
Heaven forbid you end up
Alone and don't know why
Hold on tight, wait for tomorrow,
You'll be alright.
(Narrator of song is telling the listeners to stick it out, get through all the issues in life, and you'll be alright in the end.)
"It's on your face, is it on your mind,
Would you care to
Build a house of your own?
How much longer,
How long can you wait,
It's like you wanted to go
And give yourself away."
I know a lot of people see this song as depressing or as sad but honestly I see it as hopeful as the narrator is encouraging the person to acknowledge their pain and move forward. Don't we all need to do that from time to time? -
I think it's about being alone in the world like a prostitute and not being able to escape from it or even breathe. It's like not being able to find the meaning of your life anymore. You're trying to escape from somewhere but you're scared that the world is going to be against you. all you have left is to be strong and work hard and hold tight into the day ends and wait for the next day
-
I think its about being at a point in your life where youve pushed everyone else away, all your family and friends, and youve chosen a drug or another person over everything else in your life. You realize youre alone. The narrator can see this happening to his sister but cant do anything to stop it.
